Mask Recommendations for a unusual face :)

Post by porete » Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:24 pm

Hi everyone,
I've used Respironics' Fitlife TFM for over a year now and would love to try something different. However, I was born with a cleft lip and palate, so my facial structure is not quite normal. I can't use a nasal mask because the right side of my nose is collapsed; as a result I breath through my mouth. I tried the Quattro FX, but couldn't use it because the small was too big for my face. I would love to be able use a smaller mask and wondered if y'all had any suggestions.

The Mirage Quattro (the one with the forehead piece) comes in XSmall.

Fitting template can be downloaded for print and fit for size.

I think it likely comes with standard headgear but a Small can be ordered separately.

That's my one idea. I don't use a full face mask so I can't speak from personal experience.
Let's see what the full face mask users suggest.

Do you have a problem with your current mask?

No, I just would like to be able to use a mask with a smaller footprint, if possible. Sometimes, I get a little tired of my TFM.

I am a lot like you... I would kill to be able to use a nasal, pillow, hybrid or full face mask. I have tried them and even tried various varieties of them, but to no avail. I have resigned myself that the total face mask is my mask... oh well...

Although I don't think is a popular mask, my hubby loves the PR Amara, FF mask, I know it comes I smaller sizes, I think it looks to small on him, but its working. He tried another mask & went right back to the Amara. Its narrow on the bridge of the nose.

See what you think:

Hope this suggestion helps,
Jen

a large or xl nasal mask may be big enough to fit if a small fx is too big. sounds strange, but might work.

Thanks for all the suggestions! After looking at the different masks y'all suggested, I think I'm just going to resign myself to my TFM and be grateful that there is at least one mask that I can wear comfortably. My AHI has been GREAT and I don't think I want to mess that up fiddling around with a different mask.
