godwhisper,
I have a problem with silicone also. It seemed to me like the nasal pillows in the Pilairo put pressure on my septum when I laid on my side and the mask had pillow and hose pressure. So my nose got really sore inside but also ached like I ran into a wall. I liked how the Pilairo always sealed so easily for me, as well how easy to put on but as much as I liked the idea of less on my face/head as in headgear it couldn't work every night for me.
Is it possible for you to get another nasal pillow?
I wouldn't give up on nasal pillows if you feel that at times the Pilairo is comfortable. Some like the Tap Pap and the Swift FX can have the Bella loops and/or minimal headgear, a nice cover for the single strap on your face and is pretty popular with many in this group. Due to pressure from my Ins co, my RT "gave" me back the Swift FX that he'd decided wouldn't work on the first fitting (I'm liking it so far) and he pushed me to try the Wisp nasal mask as the Pilairo replacement. It's a relief to know I don't have to stay in one mask when something hurts. Due to this group, and esp Pugsy, I have come to believe that there is a mask solution we can all accept that has more pros than cons.
This group is full of good input and advice and understanding.
Kenwood, I'm a total Pugsy fan. Without her input I'd have thrown in the towel, she's been fantastic help!
New to Cpap and dreading another night.
