A few minutes after I left, the DME called to say he had ordered me a S9 Autoset and I could bring my escape in tomorrow to swap it out.
Great! I've been fighting with computers and tax forms all day and needed cheering up. It's good to see someone not get screwed.

Be sure it's an AutoSet, not an Escape Auto. Check next to the power button when you get it.

The Escape Auto gives a little more information, but the AutoSet does a lot more. It's like driving on a frosty morning with a little hole scraped in your windshield vs. having the windows all clear.

Just got back from DME. He did it! He swapped my S9 Escape for a brand new S9 Autoset

Good Going on getting a AutoSet.

Since you have an Oximeter check your leak chart on your S9 with your Oximeter Chart and see if they mirror one another.

To go back to the original question, my DME will have nothing to do with ResMed machines but will sell their masks. My husband has an S9 thanks to STLMark and she is unable to order replacement filters or humidifiers. And I MEAN unable - she ordered the wrong humidifier twice, says theS9 has no filters.....

I wish DMEs in my area preferred ResMed machines - because I sure do.

I am sure there may be an exception I am not aware of.
But for the most part Sleep Doctors in this area prefer Respironics.
And the DMEs love that because the Respironics are cheaper.

So, we here not only have to advocate (fight) for an APAP, we also have to advocate (fight) for the ResMed S9 AutoSet because they almost always have to be ordered. And since the DMEs deal almost exclusively with Respironics machines, they don't get the lower prices on ResMeds because they just don't sell enough of them.

Getting a ResMed APAP in my area in my area is tough!

But, I got one.
And I also helped another person get one (& at a different DME).
So, it can be done - if you insist.

That's wonderful!!! Congratulations on getting a great unit & letting the DME know you are an educated patient who is going to fully participate in his therapy - good going!
