I have tried numerous chin straps, face masks (nasal and full) neck collar, tape, handkerchief over mouth with chin strap and drugs. Still wake up with dry mouth.
I stumbled across the Chuut stop snoring device from UK. It teaches nasal breathing. It should arrive around the 16th and I'll give it a try.
Here is a link: http://www.chuut.co.uk/unique-treatment/
I purchased it thru Amazon.com.uk

Re: Mouth Breathing
I've tried cutting a silicone sheet into a shape very similar to the Chuut (without the hole) and placing
it just like the Chuut to stop my mouth breathing. I used it with my PapCap.
Every time I tried it I wound up drooling excessively.
Maybe the Chuut is thinner and won't cause this problem. The silicone I used (from a cheap kitchen baking sheet)
was about 1/16" thick.
I'm very interested in hearing how the Chuut works for you.

Re: Mouth Breathing
I received the Chuut a couple of days early but was not using any cpap due to bronchitis. Feeling better I was anxious to try the chuut. I have had 3 excellent nights of sleep and am encouraged, however I must advise that I am using a loose light chin strap to keep the chuut in position. After a few more nights I will discontinue use of the chin strap. Although my lips sometimes part the chuut does not allow air flow so my nasal treatment continues.
I will update my results in a couple of weeks. At this point it would seem I have found a comfortable solution to mouth breathing.

Re: Mouth Breathing
Please do update us. I sleep best with the TapPap except for waking up to the sound of air escaping through my mouth ( wakes my husband up also). I don t mouth breathe/ open mouth with an other mask so it must me because the TapPap doesn't allow my mouth/ lips to close naturally in the first place. If this would solve that problem it would be heavenly.
Thanks for trying it and posting!

Re: Mouth Breathing
I am using 1 inch wide micropore tape. I curl my lips inward a bit before taping, kind of a reverse kiss, if you will. I have been able to lose the chin strap, so I am not waking up fighting with that. I still manage to get a little air sometimes, but for the most part it is working for me. I use plenty of tape, and I have been shaving before bed rather than in the morning, so the tape sticks better.
For me it is getting better.
