Yeah...like we aren't smart enough to know how to use the software and send a one page compliance hours of use page.
Duh....
I have often wondered why the power struggle...do they really think we are that stupid or do they just like the power and it makes them feel superior or something?

Like "OMG you can't have the software because with the software there's a way to change your pressure and you will kill yourself if you do that"...Never mind that it's easier to just change the pressure at the machine level.
Changing the pressure using the software is a PITA extra work. Takes a lot longer than just a few seconds in the clinical setup menu. I guarantee if someone has a mind to change their pressure not having the software isn't going to stop anyone.

It is all about control. Controlling the revenue stream.
As long as financial types are running the show, it will be no different.
Conscientious therapists/techs will continue to be frustrated if they chose this career to "help people",
and their bosses will build mansions and buy jets, and never notice the misery they cause.

If I were to venture a guess, I would say that a report is much easier to hack than the data card. Trust and verify, right?
Having said that, I have looked at the file formats on the S9 data card and I'm pretty sure I could hack my data if I wanted to. They use a standard EDF (European Data Format) that is used in the medical field. There is a CRC file for every data file. In computer lingo that stands for cyclical redundancy check which is a way of detecting if the data has been modified or corrupted in some way. CRCs are usually pretty easy to determine. I'm blabbing on now so I will stop...

But yeah, we're not supposed to know how to create & email a report. That's just crazy, a 10 yr. old could do it.

I had in fact printed out the compliance report for the 1st 37 days for this person.
Didn't bother downloading the last 3 days because patient was meeting compliance 100% of the days & well over 7 hours each night.

Went with patient to the DME & brought that printout, but did not immediately give it to the RT since she would be downloading the card herself.

When she was having trouble downloading the SD card (said it might be corrupt), the RT wanted to keep the SD card to try again later.

Then is when I gave her the printout.
But, she did not seem happy to be given it.
Didn't say that, but gave me the impression she could not depend on something that had been printed by someone else.
I pointed out the specific machine Serial Number that also prints out.
Didn't convince her 1 bit.

So, I said, OK, if you want to keep the SD card (by the way it is NOT corrupt), give the patient another SD card.

The RT did produce another SD card, but before we were out of the door, someone came out of the back saying they had been successful in downloading the SD card - so she took back the new one. Thought I could sneak out of there with the 2nd card.

RT did acknowledge that patient was compliant for all 40 of the days.

Oh, I know that technically the report could have been doctored but I still think the main reason they don't want us to send the data or reports is that they don't want us to have the ability to do it.
It's not so much the fact that we did it as it shows that we can do it and have access to something they think we shouldn't have access to.
It's not so much that we do it...it's the fact that we can do. They know that we know what they think we shouldn't know.

Just don't know why they won't let us just email the damn info for those that know what we are doing...

My last visit with the sleep Dr's office: They could not get the report to download on their computer. I was asked to bring a printed report from my download for them to put into my file. The DME said I was not suposed to be able to do that. LOL! I rarely go back to the DME.

When the RT suggested that the SD card might be corrupt (because SHE could not download it), I made a point of saying it was NOT corrupt.

I didn't say this - but wanted to: Just because "you" can't download it does NOT mean it is corrupt.

Now, if it had been my SD card instead of for someone else, I might have crossed that line.

Good thing in 14 years & 3 different machines, I have NEVER had to meet any compliance requirements. I just would not have put up with this $$@^%$#
