Nose Bridge Pads don't work

Post by charlestek » Fri Mar 29, 2013 9:03 pm

I've tried the gecko gel pad, and the Pad a cheek maximum cushion nosebridge pad, but both don't work and just cause leaks. Using an ultra mirage mask. I was able to use the bare mask a few days before it irritated the nose bridge and now I'm stuck, I can't use it at all. The only think I can use in the interim is an oracle mask, but I cannot use my oral appliance with the oracle. I normally need to use my oral appliance with the full face ultra mirage mask.

Try some mole skin, it's in the place for foot problems at your local WalMart or Drug store. Cut a piece that just covers the spot works like a champ.

In my former career we made custom hand splints. One rule was that padding pressure causes MORE pressure, and it's been my experience with masks that maxim is true. I always cut the nose pad off the Padacheek mask liner or tuck it up away from my nose.

See my "Taming the Mirage Quattro" blog post. I think keeping the top of the mask as loose as possible to let air fill the cushion is the best way to keep pressure off the bridge of your nose. It's counterintuitive, but it works.

I could never get both a good seal AND relieve pressure on a foam cushion, but it works well with an air cushion.

My pressures are high and I've never been able to seal the nose without force. A lot always depends on the shape of your face as to what you are able to do.

Moleskin does work.

But, so does a plain Band Aid.
I use the small circle ones.
