Selling Resmed S9 autoset w/ heated humidifier plus $350

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and stumbled across it during my attempts to discover how I can sell a cpap machine I no longer use. Discovering eBay was not an option, search engines led me to this.

About a year and a half ago I was convinced by my general practitioner that an issue I was having with lack of feeling rested from sleep (going to and staying asleep was never an issue) could be related to sleep apnea. A recommendation to a 3rd party sleep specialist resulted in a quick interview and paperwork to head across the hall to the cpap retailer where I purchased the following unit and accessories for upwards of $2000. After about 10 frustrating uses I attended a second physician for opinions and participated in a sleep study to determine I do not have sleep apnea. And the previous issue is no gone.

So long story short I have this machine and no use for it. As you can see in the pictures there is the existing unit with SD card, heated, humidifier chamber, heated hose line with cover and mask (you would want to replace the mouth/nasal mask piece I am sure- I got 2 when purchased and I know they can be bought seperately). I also have the table top non-slip mat for beneath the unit, the travel bag and all manuals and paperwork. I also have a non-heated hose line as well. There is a package of mask wipes but they appear to be dried up.

Wanted to let you know there is close to one dozen different models of ResMed S9 machines. It would help to have a clear picture of the label on the back of the machine and the text around the power button.

These units are frequently sold as new never before used zero hour units here at about $500 US. Like a car once they have been owned their value takes a big drop. There are ways to buy for much less than full retail. I assume you have no unopened accessories to go with it.

It would be helpful to indicate in the ad if it comes from a smoking or non smoking home. Place your city, state, country information In your profile and indicate if you will accept payment after inspection or if you are expecting someone to give you money up front. Since we are dealing with multiple countries it would be helpful to state if the funds requested are in US dollars or your currency. It should also be clear who will incur the cost of shipping. Will you be including a copy of the original receipt with the unit? What was the purchase date? We have a number of scammers that stop in here to try to take advantage of our members.

If the unit was a S9 Autoset (and not an Escape Auto) I would estimate the total value of your unit at about $350 US assuming shipping is included.

It looks from the text around the power button to be an autoset. The good news, is that is a very sought after machine for cpap users. I agree, 500 sounds a bit high for a used machine. If that is indeed an s9 autoset, I would list that in the title, and also list the asking price in the title.

I'd also follow all of the advice of stl mark. He would know better than I anyways, and is a very respected seller on this forum.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll update more pics and confirm the model when I get back home. I'll also update to a realistic price then. Disappointing it depreciates so much but c'est la vie.
It is also a non-smoking home environment. The only piece of equipment unopened is the second hose.

Maybe I missed it but it would be nice to have a picture showing how many run hours are on the machine.

I can't get the unit to go back more than 1 year and as you can see it shows zero usage in the last year. I do not have the original receipt unfortunately.

Is there a way to get lifetime usage time on it? What else would anyone like to know?

The price has been altered to reflect a more appropriate market value. This includes shipping as described above with tracking and insurance. I am willing to work with any buyer and am not here to rip anyone off. I would be willing to do a 50% deposit with balance paid on receipt of unit and satisfaction, or full payment using an escrow member if someone is willing to be the unbiased 3rd party middle man. I ship the unit to the escrow, buyer pays the escrow and this middle person receives both, confirms both and sends money and unit to each party. Of course this added shipping cost would be at the expense of the buyer if this is the choice to pay the escrow to send to them. As mentioned previously, I can provide many references, phone number or any other request as able. I have no issues working with a buyer to make this comfortable for them.

The location for run hours varies based on firmware level. Press and hold the "i" and the double check box buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds and the Sleep Quality screen will be displayed. Rotate the knob until the service screen is displayed. That screen will have Run Hours for most machines. Since yours was produced in 2010 and is on older firmware I'm not sure if the displays are the same.

Just curious - HOW did you determine it's age?

By it's serial number

I just ASS-U-MEd he had a specific manufacture date.

But, depending on when in 2010 it was manufactured, 3 years could be close.

Just to clarify determining the age of your S9 or H5i by using the Serial numbers.

The 1st 4 digits of the Serial number are indeed the year of manufacture.
But, you have to substitute a 0 for the 2nd digit to arrive at the year of manufacture (2010 in this case for both the S9 and the H5i).

But to get the exact date those were manufactured in the year 2010, you have to call ResMed, give them the whole Serial number. They will look it up & give you the exact day & month each was manufactured.

So, why don't they just show 2010 as the 1st 4 digits?

Because ResMed also uses the 1st 2 digits to show "where" each was manufactured.

In the pictures, you can see that the S9 was manufactured in Singapore and the H5i was manufactured in Australia.

But, with just the Serial numbers & not the pictures, you could determine the same thing.

The 1st 2 digits of 23 means that the S9 was manufactured in Singapore.

The 1st 2 digits of 22 means that the H5i was manufactured in Australia.

Yes, that is a convoluted way of doing it, but that is the way ResMed does it!
