First nights with Sleepyhead

Post by jdr999 » Fri Mar 15, 2013 8:34 am

I managed to get my hands on an Intellipap to try for some meaningful data. I only slept from 2:30am-8am last night. I believe my settings were 7.5cm-18cm, SmartFlex 2, and both roundings set at 4.

It looks like I had some trouble at 5 AM and then again at 6 AM.

Anything here stand out?

Thanks!
Joe

I can't see the numbers or words..too tiny...but the 5 AM and 6 AM clusters were probably REM stage sleep or maybe supine sleeping clusters.
Is there a pressure line somewhere...I can't tell because letters are too small.

I did click on it and got to your Photobucket library but I can't enlarge it from my side of things...

Fooey.

When I hover over it in Photobucket my mouse turns into a "+" and I can click to zoom...

Any suggestions on how to post a clearer version?

I don't get the plus or minus thing...I think that is for you only. I tried to find it because I also have it on my photobucket images

Clearer image...remove some of the unneeded graphs so the image doesn't have to be so big.
You can turn off the unneeded graphs in Preferences so that the extras aren't hogging the image.
You can resize the graphs by hovering the mouse cursor over the bottom line of the graphs till you see a short double line then you click and drag.
Main graphs...Events graph...Flow graph (which I don't think the Intellipap will give) pressure graph and leak graph...maybe snores if your machine gives it.

I have mine set up to default to these graphs. They are the main ones that I look at from my machine.

Much better, thank you.

Now I can see all those breaks in the therapy line. What was the deal up to about 2:45? Trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep?

What are your pressure settings...8 to what? Sometimes SH doesn't get those quite right for some reason..probably a little bug.
Intellipap compatibility was right at the end of this version of software so it probably has some bugs in it.

For some reason the machine doesn't record over 9 cm pressure...despite that little cluster of events.
Does this correlate with the information available from the machine?

Our son was up with a terrible cough all night. Had to put him back on his nebulizer and antibiotics..

8cm-18cm

That is a bit odd and I'm not sure why it didn't. Do you know how I can double check this?

Thanks!
Joe

By the way, this is the data I was able to gather from the DeVilbiss SmartCode online report generator:

% Days of at least 4 hours (not continuous) in a 24 hour period : 100%
Day Count : 1
Days at least 4 hours: 1
95th Percentile Pressure: 9.0
90th Percentile Pressure: 9.0
AHI: 5.0
Pressure Plateau Time: 0%
High Leak Flow Time: 5%
NRI: 2.25
EPI: 12
While Breathing Hours Last Day: 6.9

You just did with the Smart Code data. For some reason the machine doesn't want to go above 9.0.
These APAP machines are designed to report to various warning signs of an impending collapse of the airway...flow limitations and snores usually. They won't increase the pressure after an apnea event has materialized. A lot of people think that the machine will respond and try to "blow" the airway open but none of them do that.
Those events that showed up in the little cluster didn't give off enough of a warning sign or just happened out of the blue with no warning signs.
If you see that happening a lot and it bugs you and/or you don't feel so great then usually a little more minimum pressure is used in an effort to hold the airway open better and is used as a preemptive tool.

Understand about the little one...can't be helped. I was just wanting to make sure it wasn't cpap related.
jdr999 wrote:High Leak Flow Time: 5%
This means for 5% of the night you were in large leak territory. On the Devilbiss that's around 95 L/min and above.
Probably the spikes when you had to get up with the little one. The bulk of your night which is from 2:45 on...your leak was well below large leak territory.

This might help you a bit with what you are seeing.

Pugsy,

Thanks! You seem to really go out of your way to help -- it's appreciated!

It looks like my obstructive events were under control last night. Hypopneas and NRI's seem to be the issue that stands out the most.

Image

Why is Sleepyhead reporting multiple NRI's for the same exact time? Is that something to be concerned about?

Thanks,
Joe

Don't know but obviously that's a little bug in SH.
Again same story...DeVilbiss and F & P Icon compatibility were actually added right before the release of this Beta version of SH with the intention of more polish and bug fixing later...main thing was to get the raw data available for the basics.
Then life happened and Mark had to take a break from SleepyHead so those bugs didn't get fixed.
Mark worked for about a year to get to the Beta release and only the last month of that year with attention to F & P and the Devilbiss machines. Ran out of time.

Don't feel like the ugly step child though...we have bugs with the S9 and the PR S1 also.
SH is still pretty darn good for being the brain child of one man who was writing the code while also having suboptimal OSA therapy. There wasn't a large team of super geeks working on it. Originally designed just for the PR S1 but so many of the others kept asking for the other machines that he kept adding machine compatibility.

It's not perfect but it is pretty darn good. If you were showing really whacko data...I would suggest confirmation with the DeVilbiss software. Oh, before anyone asks...I have a lot of stuff in my little back of tricks but I don't have the DeVilbiss software.

Ok, after not being completely satisfied with the SleepyHead data from my Intellipap I decided to try an S9. Here's last nights report:

Image

How are things looking?

Should I assume that most of my CA are while tossing & turning while awake?

I would assume that if this were my report. 2 little clusters of CAs with one at the very beginning of the night so either awake tossing and turning or sleep onset and again right before getting up time when it is likely that a person was again doing a big of tossing and turning and semi awake stuff with some sleep stage transition centrals being thrown in.
I wouldn't give those 2 clusters more than a second glance.
