I logged over 8 hours in my second day! That includes the nap I took when I got home yesterday. I did wake up a few times, but I think I am starting to get the hang of this mask. The link that Pugsy posted was very helpful in my understanding how these pillows seal and that I think made all the difference for me. I had one "episode" where I shut the machine off for a bit and used the toity. I woke up around 2:30am in a sweat and had some difficulty breathing. Every 10 or so breaths I would feel panicky and have to take a couple of deep breaths to calm back down. I strongly resisted taking the mask off, but after about 6 sequences of this I decided to get up, use the BR, get a drink and try again. When I came back and refitted the mask all was well and I slept pretty soundly the rest of the night. I am not sure what that was all about but it was the only real negative experience of the night. Much better than the night before.
But here's the best part: DREAMS! Holy crap, I forgot what dreams were like! I really don't remember much about them, just that when I woke up I was thinking, how cool was that? I actually think the experience of dreaming after so long without having any dreams somehow startled me into awaking if that makes any sense?
I don't feel like superman or anything; the real test will be as the day wears on and if I need that afternoon nap, etc. I am not ready to say that I've conquered this mask, but I will claim victory for this one night! I will say, though, that the experience gives me encouragement and a sense of optimistic hope. Hope can be powerful.
