I'm going to take a wild-a$$-guess and predict that since he was talking to "BlackSpinner", "down here" refers to the USA and he considers Canada to be "up there" (north being up and south being down).

And, "NO", I'm not "trying to get stuff done before Obamacare starts". It still costs money and I'm trying to save as much of it as possible. I have purchased numerous machines and supplies for my CPAP therapy (future use)......out-of-pocket......as I'm trying to not suck any more money out of the healthcare system than is necessary. I don't have an "entitlement" mentality.

Blackspinner is in Canada, which is to the north of the USA. Canada went to socialized medicine several decades back, but then again Canada has socialized medical care.

Evidently, must be a lot of people on here that voted for the savior obama and all the promises of "free stuff" he brought with him. Its too bad that all that "free stuff" is not really free. Somebody is gonna have to pay for it...people who work and pay taxes. This country is turning into the country of those who work for a living and pay taxes. And those that live off of those who work and pay taxes.

Unfortunately, a lot of people "down here" have decided they are too lazy to work anymore. And want to live off those who do work and pay taxes. So we have the savior obama elected, who is bringing to us socialized medicine, banning guns and legalizing marijuana. And making it legal for gay people to legally get hitched.

I figure I better get all the medical care I need in the next year, before obama care starts in earnest. And the sh*t hits the fan "down here" in the USA. I have a low opinion of this country's ability to "get it together" good when it comes to our medical system and I predict obama care will be a total, utter fiasco.

And what you want to do is force a radical procedure on them which screws up their digestion, reduces the ability of the body to absorb needed nutrients, and results in all sorts of deficiency diseases.

What Obamacare SHOULD do is outlaw high fructose corn syrup, natural and artificial flavors, GMO junk, and fast food. It should outlaw things like putting aspartame in milk. And spraying sugar water on veggies so that kids will eat them.

All meats should be pastured, all fruits and vegetables organic, all grains should be soaked or soured before being made into bread.

Oh no, another Obama disaster...now he's sabotaged medical care in the US. Oh my, what will that Muslim socialist demon destroy next? Obviously Obama is pure evil, and anything he does will undermine the American way of life.

They have no choice of the drugs that they have to buy or the lab tests or CT scans that they have to get, and they would not know what to do if they did have a choice. They are powerless buyers in a seller’s market where the only sure thing is the profit of the sellers.

What the author discovered is that Medicare allows about 10 to 20% profit over actual costs incurred by medical providers. They like to bill out to ordinary folks charges that are about 1000% to 2000% above costs.

Infections have been an issue in hospitals for years. Where have you been?

I feel a relative's death was hastened by a c-difficile infection that was picked up in a hospital in 08.

I do agree with the public health official claims that obesity is absolutely out of control in this country. And I do believe strongly that chronic obesity is a leading cause of Western, 21st century chronic illness. Im not saying obesity is the cause of ALL chronic illnesses, but I believe obesity is strongly related to sleep apnea, hypertension, type II diabetes (no doubt on that one!), high triglycerides and high cholesterol, GERD, hell even asthma. Even low testosterone in men and maybe even depression and anxiety when you factor in the fact that sleep apnea causes those and obesity causes many cases of sleep apnea.

I can speak as I am currently obese myself. I already know if I drop to 204 lbs, I feel significantly better and look significantly better. All things improve at the same time. Ive not been down to my normal weight since the late 90s, which would be about 165 to 170 lbs. I figure if I was able to drop to 170 or below, so many of my problems would go away or decrease to a level that would make it very easy to manage. And be much cheaper as well.

Im not bashing obese people as I mentioned Im obese right now myself. Im just being honest with myself. I really believe chronic obesity is THE cause of a bunch of Western diseases that are expensive and difficult to manage.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up obama. Banning guns and legalizing pot. Taking (stealing) money from those who have (people who work) and giving it to people who dont work. Sounds like a great plan for a future superpower.
