My question is if you have a cold or an allergy do nasal pillows work (I use a Breeze system) or do you need a full face mask?
I have just completed my first week using cpap and have between 6.5 to 9 hours sleep per night. I use a humidifier.

Nasal pillows and colds/allergies
RE: Nasal pillows and colds/allergies
Billy, I can only speak from my personal experiences, but I've found that the nasal pillows, and my pressure of 14, usually overcome the congestion.
Fortunately, I don't have any severe allergies, and only get one or two head colds a year. If I am able to clear out the worst of it before putting on my pillows, the air pressure seems to keep me open all night.
On those rare occasions when I awakened congested during the night, a good blow usually was enough to begin using the pillows again and go back to sleep.
BTW, I, too, use Breeze pillows.

colds/allergies and nasal pillows
I have really bad allergies and I had a cold on the second week after I got my machine. I have a Breeze and I have to say that Amigo is right, the machine just clears you out! I found that it's a good idea to clean your nose/sinuses out with a saline wash in the morning in the night and I take antihistamines and use flonase too. But when I put on that mask, I find that if on the first couple of breathes I open my mouth, it just flushes your nose clear. And that warm humidified air helps too.
It's the best thing for my allergies in a long time!! A wonderful side effect of CPAP therapy (now if I can only get my leak rate down....)
