SirnoddinOff - I did not rally to "your side". In my post, in this thread, I detailed how long I have been a back sleeper AND I have commented on it many times before. I may not have commented in your particular thread last Spring. I have simply grown tired of expressing my situation on this topic so many times that I often don't post when it is raised yet again.

This time I did because the OP is having to do for similar reasons and I felt my particular experence and what I did to facilitate good therapy in that sleeping position would be of help to her.

I am aware that not everyone can sleep on their back when they have apnea and I know everyone must do what they must do and sleep as they must sleep whether it be back, side or stomach to get good cpap therapy.

I'm confused... does this mean I don't have to send you the fifty bucks I promised if you'd back me up

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I'm cheap and I can be bought.

I have always thought that getting good sleep was primary goal. If that involves sleeping in the supine position..then do it and make sure you have the machine set up to cover any special needs that supine sleeping might cause to come up.
Trust the machine to do its job.
I wouldn't care if the machine prevented a hundred events an hour as long as they were prevented.

My OSA is worse in REM sleep...what am I supposed to do....force myself to not have any REM sleep? That would sure mess with my sleep quality for sure.

Of course there are always extreme cases where I can understand someone wanting to stay on their side...like a huge pressure need when supine sleeping and maybe that higher pressure causes problems.

I was diagnosed in Nov 2012 so last spring I wouldn't have even heard about the forum.... My AHI is not very positional: Supine 141, Left 143, Right 132, and Prone 100. After a few months on therapy, my AHI ranges from 0.2 to 1.5, median of 1. I don't worry about positioning and sleep on back at least part of the night. If you're resting well and AHI's are good, then who cares what someone says on an internet board?

Keep your money!! I'm happy! People are looking at this again and not being encouraged to avoid back sleeping as much as usually happens on this forum, as you well know!
