I have a notebook computer and need to find an appropriate adapter for the 9-pin serial cable to make it USB. Does anyone download onto a notebook from the 420e? Which cable did you buy and did you have to change any computer settings? Thanks in advance.
GK 420e cable question
I always download my 420E to a laptop that doesn't have a serial port.
Do you already have the serial cable?
If you do, a standard serial to USB adapter cable will make the connection to a laptop and its just a matter of selecting the com port when prompted.
If you don't have the serial cable for connecting to the 420E, you can pick it up for cheaper than the serial to USB adapater (which you will need in ADDITION) or you can make your own fore really cheap from an old modem cord and a d-sub connector. I think a search should come up with the wiring diagram if you want to make your own cable.
