CPAP on the Carnival Triumph Cruise

Post by Janknitz » Wed Feb 13, 2013 8:02 pm

I wonder if we'll hear from anyone on the Triumph. They have been stuck at sea with no power for 4 days now.

In addition to other privations, some will be without CPAP. Some passengers were sleeping on deck because the cabins were too hot and foul with the smell of unflushed sewage--I'd get thrown overboard for snoring for sure!

No cruises for me unless they can guarantee a SPEEDY airlift if this garbage happens AGAIN.
So, it's probably no cruise--at least not on Carnival.
Didn't Princess have a disaster cruise; or was that Carnival, too?.

Last week I was thinking how nice a cruise would be (Just fantasy, I can't even afford to rent a paddle boat at the local lake!), but now, not so much. Sounds like a ship of horrors.

If you like the idea of a cruise but not the distance from land then do what my parents did for years, take a cruise up the Rhine river. They went from Rotterdam to Budapest. Nice boat, good food, lots of sights to see, no ocean, no pirates.

Cosmo, don't forget your solar battery charger too. We are looking to do the Aranui out of Tahiti next year. 200 passenger ship that brings freight to and from French Polynesian islands.

I've always wanted to go on a cruise and I plan to when I retire in less than a year. The wife is not too pumped up about it, but we have talked to so many people that have loved them. There is also a program that will contact you at the last minute (you have to be ready) to book on unused rooms and you can get super discounts. I plan on checking them out. You gotta be ready to go at the last minute, though...

Could you PM me that 'last minute' info, I knew it existed, but didn't know where to look. My hubby & I are wanting to take a cruise sometime this summer, but that super discount would really help. I will have to buy a set-up like Cosmos' I guess x2 one for hubby & me, since we are both on CPAP now.
Thanks,
Jen

Dear Sheriff, Think about this, your lovely wife is not too anxious to go on a cruise in the first place, but has to be ready to go at the last minute!! I hope you have your gun locked up in a safe place!

The only real cruise wife & I have ever been on was in England back in 1989! We rented a narrow boat, which is basically a floating RV, 45 ft long, 7 ft wide, with a small diesel engine. We cruised English canals for 6 1/2 days at about 3 mph making a 90 mile plus loop around the English countryside and city backsides. We operated locks for ourselves to change water elevations, stopped to shop along the way and eat at English pubs, and tied up along a bank each night.

It was a really quiet, peaceful, unhurried, way to view a portion of England. I'd love to to do it again someday.

Here are links to the company we rented from: http://www.alvechurch.com/ http://www.abcboathire.com/

Here's a video of a boat pretty much like the one we rented: http://www.panoramic-imaging.com/360hos ... &pano_no=1
