Need sleeping pill suggestion to stop waking up
Re: Need sleeping pill suggestion to stop waking up
And those monthly average awakening counts and duration look normal, if we hold the Zeo counts to be completely accurate. Simply being entered in red and causing a minuscule reduction in ZQ doesn't mean that they need to be eliminated. You don't need to obscess over it, you don't need drugs for it. Perhaps a visit with someone involved with CBT-I would calm your perfectionism.

Cosmo, I am surprised that several ladies on this board are adamantly against trying 10 mg of Zolpidem (generic Ambien), b/c see here what they are missing:

Avi,
That's a new low for you and I thought you couldn't go any lower.
Going to quote what you said so you can't go back and change it like you do so often and not because I enjoyed the blog you pointed to. Pretty tasteless IMHO. Not only are you a grumpy old man...looks like a dirty old man too.

I directed my post to Cosmo. Why are you interfering?
Notice that again you picked on my age. Is that the reason for the Goodman's (owners of this website) to have an age entry in the profile?
So that posters like you could attack another poster personally b/c of his/her age? Shame on you!

Because you made it public and that includes me and anyone else who reads your garbage. If you want to send it to him privately that's whole different story but then it isn't so much fun is it?avi123 wrote:I directed my post to Cosmo. Why are you interfering?

Regarding grumpy old man or dirty old man. Hey if the shoe fits......
It's a tasteless sexist blog you pointed to no matter what your age is. I can't help it if you are always grumpy and hateful and happen to be "older". Now I get to add "dirty" to the adjectives.
Hey, how come you are reading my stuff anyway...I thought I was on your monumental Foe list that half the forum women are supposedly on?

Comment,
In a past post you related to me as an "old farter". Who gave you the permission to use such abusive words on this website?
As to being on a foe list, Caroline Goodman (an owner of this website) emailed me that If I don't want to associate with a poster then I just need to enter that poster's name on my foe list and this would solve it. But you disregard it when you see that your name was foed by me. You just keep posting to my attention and often using four letter words.

Perhaps someone should explain how the Foe list works and it doesn't send me a note asking me not to respond to you.avi123 wrote: In a past post you related to me as an "old farter". Who gave you the permission to use such abusive words on this website?

All the Foe list does is short of half way hide anything that I post and you this message but with my name.

Your Foe list doesn't stop me from posting at all....it's supposed to enable you to ignore someone you don't like.
I can address anything to you that I want to. Don't like it....don't read it.
That's all the Foe list does...sort of hides what is said. Doesn't do anything to me at all. I didn't get a notice saying...Avi123 doesn't want you to respond to anything he says. It doesn't work that way and if you don't like it...tough.
Did I ever call you an old fart? I might have. I don't remember and don't really care.
Called you abusive words? Hey, there are a lot more than these that I could come up with ....grumpy, dirty, hateful, I don't remember old fart but I probably did..... but this one for sure ......misogynist.
Edit: I wonder if my being on your Foe list blocks me from sending you a private message....like maybe if I tried I would be some sort of message to the effect that my private messages are blocked. Don't know, haven't tried it...don't want to.
Maybe that is what Carolyn meant about not getting any messages from me addressed to you...maybe she meant private messages.

Re: Need sleeping pill suggestion to stop waking up
My son took Ambien (zolpidem) ONE time when he was 17. He had been having sleep issues for years, mainly not able to go to sleep until a different time each day or night. We'd gone through a lot of things that didn't work. (It was a circadian rhythm sleep disorder that he outgrew, thank goodness!). He went right to bed. About an hour later he asked if I could just come in the room for a while because he wanted to at least have one thing in the room he knew was real. He was having hallucinations, which is one of the side effects if you don't (or can't, in his case) go to sleep right away. He was like that for about three hours, in the bed, as I sat in the floor. It never helped him go to sleep.
I have a friend whose husband, took it. He had trouble staying asleep. He would go in the kitchen and fix weird stuff to eat. He'd get up in the middle of night to use the bathroom and fall back asleep in there. He even sat down on the stairs once and fell back asleep as he was trying to go back to bed from sleep-eating! His wife finally had enough and dumped the pills...LOL! This man's sister also takes it and does the sleep-eating thing, but doesn't care because it helps her sleep so much better.
Some people do really well on Ambien, but I would highly recommend that you have someone in the house with you the first time you take it in case you have some of the odd side effects.
If I woke up a million times a night and felt great the next day, I wouldn't care. But my constant awakenings every night leave me feeling awful every single day. So for me, it's definitely not normal, unless feeling lousy every day from being so tired is supposed to be normal! I have Ambien, but I haven't had the nerve to try it yet. Might give some other things a go first, like Benedryl.

See a sleep specialist and find out what is causing your sleep pattern disruption. Mine was simply a bladder resection surgery I had a couple of years ago. I started taking Tylenol 3 for the discomfort and my pattern was messed up. We are working towards returning it to normal and am almost there. Sleep at 11 p.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Up at 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Avoid napping regardless of how tired you feel.

Fall colours. One of God's gifts. Life is fragile and short, savour every moment no matter what your problems may be. These stunning fall colours from my first outing after surviving a month on life support due to H1N1.
Re: Need sleeping pill suggestion to stop waking up
I don't understand it why should a couple resist to find out if each of them or one of them, take 10 mg of Ambien if it would then improve their sexual satisfaction to such a degree as the stories mentioned in my above post attest. After all, sexual intimacy does impart some of the same benefits as exercise, including improved mood, stronger immunity, and reduced pain. Would it also lead to better uninterrupted sleep?

You need a lesson on how PUBLIC message board systems work and the etiquette that goes along with them. Notice the word PUBLIC, Avi. If you feel like having a private conversation with someone, send a PM directly to them rather than post it on the board.avi123 wrote:Reply,

I am posting this comment to YOU, but anybody can respond to it since I did it publicly. They have the opportunity and the RIGHT to do it.
You don't want others, especially us women, addressing your comments -- send PM's instead. Every woman on the forum (probably the planet) wishes you would.
And that link you posted? I don't have the words or the strength to address that. Unbelievable.
"Misogynist" says it all. I need a shower to cleanse myself after this. Very soiling.

Re: Need sleeping pill suggestion to stop waking up
I sometimes drink Sleeptime Tea before bed if I've been having trouble with waking in the night (and that happens to me about 3-4 times a year), it helps get me sleep system 'reset' & kind of 'shocks' my sleeping back into normal, 'stay asleep all night' mode. There is also another tea, called 'Tiela' it comes from Spain & is a little harder to obtain, I have a friend from Spain & usually get it from here when she is ordering from a European catalog, since I can't read Spanish, she has to order for me.
I'd try the Sleeptime, it really works for me. Good luck,
Jen

Re: Need sleeping pill suggestion to stop waking up
Avi - I disagree with your promotion of benzos & Ambien. Ambien crosses the blood-brain barrier and can have all kinds of weird side effects. My mother-in-law takes Ambien & at night, the side effects are definitely WEIRD, she gets up, washes dishes, cleans the fridge, mops the bathroom floor, all kinds of stuff & she remembers NONE of it. I have witnessed this firsthand. Although this is just my opinion, I just think suggesting that someone should get hooked on benzos for something like this is unnessary, and I'm not big on using Ambien, for reasons stated & google that if you don't believe me. As for your link to that website, you are a dirty old man.
Cosmo, I posted my remarks to you in the prior post.
