Sensawake and APAP

Post by LucienWoots » Tue Feb 05, 2013 11:17 pm

I want to use the sensawake feature on my machine but it is in CPAP mode not APAP.

I can set it to APAP but I don't understand the min and max and the difference in CPAP and APAP therapy.

Is sensawake worth changing my settings?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Min means minimum presseure and max means maximum pressure to which you are allowing the auto machine to set itself according to what it "thinks" is required. The auto setting should be considered the more effective than fixed in normal situations. Is your situation nornal? Set the min to at least 1 cm below the prescribed and the max to at least 2 cm above the prescribed. See what happens. Increase the spread by one or 2 cm if experienced justifies. "Sensawake" is a sales gimmick. It may produce a good result or it may produce a counterproductive result. Not worth the effort. But setting the machine to auto should produce improved results. The vast majority of people ("patients") need full face maks for the system to actually work. If your mouth is dry, your mout is open. That proves prima facie that you need a full face mask, like it or not.

I found SensAwake to be inaccurate and mostly a marketing and sales gimmick, I turned it off and never looked back.

You could go ahead and try it to see what you think, but I don't really think much of the feature.

However you might bennefit from running your machine in APAP mode, so definitely give that a try.. You could start with an APAP setting that brackets your straight CPAP pressure, for instance if your CPAP pressure is 9 for example you could set up the apap with 8 cm min -- to max of 10 cm to start with and see how that goes. That's just an example to give you an idea what I meant about bracketing your CPAP pressure, be sure and use your own numbers

Yeah, someone seems to feel the need to resurrect old Sensawake threads for some reason or other. This thread isn't the only one. Probably won't be the last either. It's the weekend and that seems to awaken the need to resurrect old threads.
