To the OP: If you had Sleepyhead back up the data (which is the default) I think you'll be able to restore it. I also think you'll find that card won't read correctly on your computer now, too.

In general you should ALWAYS eject the device before removing it from the computer. In Windows, you do this using the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon in the tray (lower right). It might be easier to view "My Computer" and right-click the drive representing the card, then select Eject. You will NOT be able to Eject the card if it is in use ... some programs remember where they last were, and so you end up shutting things down just to eject the card. Just to be clear, the card is not going to physically eject at this point, but if the computer says it is safe to remove, you can then do exactly that.

On a MAC you accomplish this by dragging the icon representing the card to the trash (where it suddenly says Eject). Once the icon is gone from the desktop it is safe to remove the card.

I have seen MANY SD Cards ruined by not doing this. Ejecting the card effectively stops the computer from POWERING the card. If you pull it out while it is powered, it can be damaged, sometimes irreversibly! It is not true that the machine must be writing to the card for this to happen, but that does increase the odds.

Will your provider know what you've done? Nope! As far as your concerned the machine suddenly says what it says, and you need help. But that's just my opinion....

So today, I slid the little lever on it so it was read only and then put it back before using again in the machine. I also unplugged the machine, seemed to work fine.
