buying secondwind products to canada
Re: buying secondwind products to canada
ive looked into it. sadly, newfoundland doesnt provide any medical equipment or supplies other than o2 under our provincial health plan.

I do have an Intellipap that is my travel machine. I tested it to titrate my pressure and it always left me at half of the pressure the other machines were keeping me at. When I will use this device, I will use it in cpap mode.Hawthorne wrote:
Bashing the Intellipap, if one had an Autoadjust, is not justified, in my opinion. It is a great machine - gives great therapy and very good data for managing sleep apnea.
Re: buying secondwind products to canada
cosmo, when you use the intellipap compared to the other machines you use, do you feel any different the next day? from the graphs you posted, your ahi looks to be the same.

I have an Intellipap autoadjust, which I use for travel.
It would be a very good first machine if you cannot afford the Autoset.
I feel about the same during and after treatment with one machine as the other.
The DeVilbiss has more adjustments on rounding your air pressure transition--the default is quite nice.
I think if Consumer Reports were to test CPAP's, this machine would be rated a "Best Buy",
and would be one of the top 3 recommended units.

I can't really say if I do or do not feel any worst. I'm still new at it.
Re: buying secondwind products to canada
I use a Resmed S9 Autoset and the IntelliPAP AutoAdjust. Both with humidifiers. Although the Devilbiss has some features the Resmed doesn't (wider presure adjustment range, ability to set response paramaters to events and air temprature control without having to purchase a special hose) the Resmed brings numerous things to the table that Devilbiss doesn't, even if you pay the additional amount for the Divilbiss hardware and software.
Such features include the ability to independently set temprature and humidity, data recorded every ten seconds as opposed to six minutes, length of events as opposed to just numbers and type,, and, software that supplies more in-depth information so one can better track and fine-tune theraphy
However, the jury is out at least in my books regarding data accuracy. In my case, Devilbiss reports numerous hypopneas and very few clear airway events while Resmed reports numerous clear airway events and very few hypopneas. Such reports are based on data consistency after two week trials.

I see a lot of hypopneas from the IntelliPAP also. But we have no flow graph from the IntelliPAP so we can't see whats going on
Re: buying secondwind products to canada
just wanted to post a quick note about the original topic
i got my new machine!
it took 7 days to arrive through the expedited shipping via usps mail, including a day at canada customs when they opened/inspected the package.
at the door i was charged the harmonized sales tax (hst) for newfoundland as it was a new cpap machine. there was no duty charge and a 9.95 handling fee from canada post.
i expected this.
so very fast shipping(at no charge), no duty, + hst + $10 handling fee at the door..cant get better than that.
i received the new intellipap auto and have been using it now for 20 days.
the smartcode data ive seen so far compares favorably to my respironics auto M info.
ahi has been between 2-4 average over 20 days, 2.5 ahi the past 3 days, with pressures ranging from 10-12.5. i'm feeling great when i wake up.
this is a great little machine and im very pleased with it.
