Waking up

Post by hrc54 » Fri Apr 21, 2006 6:12 am

I use a Remstar Bi-pap that I love & feel 80& better-I've increased my pressure from 12 cm to 14 cm. I mouth tape so I don't think I have mouth leaks.

Any suggestions?

Waking up

Post by hrc54 » Sat Apr 22, 2006 12:16 am

I'm sorry. My question was that I still wake up 1-2 times a night. Is this normal? Might I adjust my pressure even higher?
I was titrated at 12cm but have raised it to 14cm. When I'm at 14cm I feel better. but could a sleep study titration be that far off?

Thanks

It may well be normal for you to wake up several times a night. I know it is for me even with my therapy going what I consider pretty good. And yes, titrations can be off by a lot. In my case I was titrated at 9 cm/h20 at the sleep lab, but after monitoring my results, I get the best treatment at 14-14.5. Although at 14.5 I've started the unfun thing of beginning to swallow a little air which makes for a burpy morning. No biggie, but it is a little wierd. It feels like when I was a kid and intentially swallowed air so that I could impress my friends and family by burping the alphabet. I suggest monitoring your progress and to make adjustments accordingly until you optimize your treatment.

You may still wake up, in time you will settle down, the best suggestion is to get the software so you can see what's happening. Jim

Absolutely! Do you have the software so you can see your data to know how effectively your apnea is being addressed? If not, going by how you feel is an excellent indication of how well it's working for you.

What wakes you up? Mask discomfort? Leaks?
