Cleaning a heated (DO NOT SUBMERSE!) tube.

Post by quietmorning » Wed Jan 30, 2013 9:05 am

How do you clean your heated tube? Mine is fairly new . . .and I'm fumble fingers. . .and it's a pain. Do you have any suggestions on how to wash a heated tube without losing your temper?

Thanks!

I washed my climate line hose right after I unpacked it from the box from CPAP.com

I dunked it into a tub full of soapy water.... rinsed it off & flushed it out with running water from the showerhead.

I hung it on a towel rack to dry for the day and have used it for the past 3 months with no issues.

As you might tell, I don't wash my heated hose regularly....

So the 'do not submerse' is not something to really pay attention to?

As long as it's not for long, and thoroughly dry when you re-attach it.
The MFR (yes, I meant that, too!) is merely covering their worthless behind.

Maybe they mean when it's plugged into the machine. I clean mine once a week inside and outside by submerging it in hot water and mixed with baby shampoo. Rinsing then hanging to dry for a day.

Hmmm; I've never tried cleaning the hose while attached to the machine;
although I wouldn't be surprised if someone has tried--just no one here!

if you washed it while hooked up to the machine.

After washing, you could reach over and turn the machine on and blow dry the hose

LOL

See page 11 of manual (link below). The Resmed one can be submerged but apparently you should avoid submerging the PR System One tube.

I just dap a little soap in each end of my climateline and rinse in the bathtub faucet weekly. Don't know what is the correct protocol though.

I take my CPAP parts into the shower with me, including the heated hose, and clean with some fragrance-free, dye-free, etc. dish soap. So easy! If the hose still has water in it when I'm ready to go to bed, I turn on the S9, minus the data card and water in the reservoir, straighten out the hose on the bed, turn on the machine for 5 mins, and then I have a clean, dry hose!

This is a much better system then the one most people use....so many people are diligent about cleaning their hose and then hang it all day in a germ filled bathroom to dry. When you flush, germs can carry 6-10 feet. I never dry my hose..it's just moisture from distilled water and the next night it will just be wet again.
