AHI reading on REMstar Auto A-Flex

Post by ktmtrailrider » Sat Jan 19, 2013 2:39 pm

I have the REMstar Auto A-Flex machine, and was wondering if there is a way to get the AHI reading from it. I have scrolled through the menus, and haven't seen it as an available reading.

I'm new to the CPAP thing, having just got the machine two weeks ago.

This board has been a great find for me, I've done quite a bit of reading of the info here, and am grateful for the wisdom that everybody has shared from their experiences!

Should be in the info menu towards the bottom.

Thanks for the quick response! That's where I thought it should be too, but scrolling thru the info menu, after "Days > 4", it skips the next five lines shown in the manual, and the next active line is Humidifier.

So, I don't get the info for Large Leak, AHI, Periodic Breathing, 90% Pressure and Auto Trial.

Hi! I am brand new to these machines. I have the exact same circumstance. Can anyone help me get access to my AHI info? Doesn't show up under Info the way the manual says it will.

Thank you!

Mark

What machine model do you have? It's a 3 digit number on the bottom of the blower...if anything less than 450 you don't have a machine that collects any data other than hours of use.

If it is 450 or higher you just need to go into the clinical set up menu and turn "Show AHI" to the On position. Default from factory is for "Off".
Once it is turned on you have to go into the clinical setup menu...then switch over to the Info menu and scroll to see the AHI data stuff.
How to get to the clinical setup menu explained here.

If you have a System One machine model 450 or higher you can use SleepyHead software or Encore. See my signature for links that explain how to get SleepyHead and use it. Encore available per private message request if you want it...Windows only software though because Encore doesn't have a Mac version.

Thanks very much! I will check the model number when I get home.

My machine has a cellular connection to the folks who supplied it. Will it still be possible to use that software with it?

At this point I'll be happy if I can just check the numbers when I get out of bed in the morning. I'm extremely motivated to use this, as my apnea has contributed to some serious health issues (sounds like that is the case for many/most people here). I've averaged 9 hours of use per night for the first few nights. I'm so tired at night that the machine just doesn't bother me. I think I'm sleeping better, but I'm not getting that amazing lift in energy I thought I might get (I just read another thread here that helped confirm that my experience isn't that unusual). In any event, it'd help me sustain motivation if I had that daily confirmation that the CPAP is working in terms of AHI.

What a fantastic resource this site is.

Yes, but it may not have a SD card in that slot under the modem. If it doesn't you need to get a SD card and slide it into the slot. Doesn't have to be name brand...generic will work.
All that has to be done is remove the modem (it pops off easily) use the SD card in your computer and then put it back in the slot and replace the modem.
Most of the time that modem is only used for compliance hours of use anyway.

If your model machine does collect data there is one bit of data that the SD card must remain in the machine all night to get recorded to the SD card. That would be the flow rate graph or wave form charts...otherwise the machine stores a lot of data in its internal memory so if you don't have a SD card in the slot....just get one and put it in there and the machine will write the data that it has stored in its internal memory right to the SD card so minimal data is lost.

Sometimes DMEs remove the SD card from the slot when they put the modem on but it doesn't have to be removed for the modem to work.

The onscreen data (on the machine) is limited data though and what you get depends on the machine model.
If it is a 60 series machine (and a newer model at that) you will see one night data available...AHI, % of time in Large leak, PB and 90% pressure if using auto adjusting pressure mode. And the other data is a 7 and 30 night average of the same data.
So it's limited..can't get AHI event breakdown or more detailed data but it is something.
The % for large leak...all that means is what % of time you spent in large leak. If you didn't reach large leak at all then it will show 0.0 %. That doesn't mean no leak...just means no leak that was big enough to get a large leak flag.

O.k., I think I have a model 560 (it says 560P or something like that). I'm pretty sure it is the same on as the one pictured here:
http://www.directhomemedical.com/pr-sys ... h_SoNJkyuI

I took the modem off, but don't see an SD slot... what I DO find, though, is a sticker for the CME across the back of the unit directly underneath the place where the modem plugs in. Is the SD slot underneath that sticker?

I was able to follow the linked instructions you provided and get access to the AHI numbers. Mine was .2 last night, and .7 for the 3 days I've worn it. Are those good numbers? I feel like the chin strap solved the leak issues I had the first night (I woke up a few times with the unmistakable feeling of a rush of wind leaving my mouth).

SD slot is in the back up at the top middle...you may not notice it without a SD card in the slot.
If looking at the back square on....power plug on the right and slot immediate left in the middle of the machine

Mine looks like this... the only slot is the one the modem plugs into. It is wider than an SD slot.

Looks like they took the SD cover off to fit the modem on the machine.

I can't see the image.

I have never seen the back of one with the back cover off.

In the past users who have had the modem in place have just mentioned that they popped the modem off and was able to use the SD card slot just fine. Some people said there was a SD card in the slot...some people had to get their own SD card.

Let me see if I can find some modem pictures...I saw them a while back somewhere on the web...off I go scratching head wishing I had saved the pictures.

I don't think the slot is SD... here's what the modem part (that goes in that slot) looks like next to an SD card:

I still can't see your image.
You have to host it somewhere on the web like with Photobucket..
Can you see the image in your post? Maybe it's just me????

Did your supplier tell you how long you had to have the modem on?
