New Fisher Paykel CPAP

Post by cpapabuser » Wed Apr 19, 2006 2:31 pm

Has anyone tried out the new Fisher Paykel SleepStyle 600 CPAP? I have looked at it and noticed it had a heated hose along with a heated humidifier. I still have a dry mouth using my respironics integrated heater, of course it has only one heat setting. Please post some feedback anyone who has tried this one out.

I am interested in this feedback to.

I have used the F&P HC201 & an F&P HC221LE and liked them - I use an F&P HC150 H/H most of the time and it is great. I imagine the heated hosed added to the mix make for an excellent xPAP machine.

Cheers

DSM, What do you think is great about the F&P HC 150?

Larry,

I have obtained for evaluation a wide range of heated humidifiers & have tried them all. Very interesting.

1) HC100 (v.good but lacks ambient tracking)
2) HC150 (my fav)
3) Resmed Humidaire (v.good but big & cumbersome)
4) OASIS Passover (v.good for a passover)

Then on a range of machines

a) Remstar H/H (v.happy with this unit)
b) Resmed 2i (fiddly to use (fill) & a bit fiddly to adjust)
c) Resmed 3i (a very big improvement over the 2i)
d) PB420 H20 (good, but requires sep power cord & is not integrated)

The reason I like the HC150 is that it is easy to fill, easy to clean (I have a novel approach to this ), has ambient tracking which does help a bit.

I use it with my PB330 which has no useful matching H/H.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Doug

DSM,

Which of the chambers for the F&P 150 do you have? The one with 2 chambers or one chamber. Please let us know which one and how you clean it.

I have both the stainless steel based chamber HC300 & the new one called the HC325.

On the HC201 & HC221 are the HC325 chambers.

Now don't laugh
What I do is let the chamber soak full of water for a few hrs.
I then empty it. Put 2 tablespoons of rice plus a little bit of water then shake it for 5 to 10 mins (play some music )

I have been able to get the insides spotless & all hardwater deposits removed.

Cheers & happy shaking.

DSM

PS becareful what you do put in the chambers. Rice is mostly gentle.

I have the Fischer&Paykel HC608 with the integrated humidifier and heated hose. I also use the Swift, which I switched to from an Activa and I find the Swift to be WONDERFUL!

Regarding the F&P 608, I've been using it since April 6th and it is my first experience with CPAP. I have no complaints with it and find it reliable and simple to use. I've NEVER awakened with a dry nose or mouth and I've sailed through tree pollen season here in Utah with relative ease. I do find at times, that the air from the Swift is perceptibly cool, which I usually enjoy, but here, it maybe is a little bit too much so.

My only reservation is the ramp function, which I've stopped using since I'd feel air-starved during the initial ramp-up minutes. I now go straight to my 10 cmH2O and find it much more comfortable. The HC608 also has auto altitude/leak compensation, which the HC604 does not, so check to make sure which one you're getting.

Hope this helps.

Chuck

Thanks for the info Chuck, it sounds pretty cool. I may see if I can get my hands on one.

My HC150 has been working for several years. I assume the ambient tracking is working but I don't know how to tell for sure. The problem I have with the HC150 is getting the rinse water out of the chamber after I clean it. I have to admit, it never occurred to me to pour rice in my humidifer.

DSM, I'm not laughing, but I am smiling a bit.
