I put essential oils on cotton balls and put them near the intake of my machine. I enjoy it, it is just something nice to smell all night long. Since I also share a bed with a stinky dog.

A slight "derail" from the original intent of this thread, but interesting so I decided to share...

For those that don't know, my equipment is on a rolling cart that is brought to the family room every day. Since I fall asleep almost every afternoon, this allows me to sleep with my mask, without having to get into bed.

Scheduling issues with my husband and son yesterday made me and my husband prepare our dinner at lunch time, planning to let them reheat the food when they popped in at dinnertime (I can't prepare a meal without assistance due to my muscle weakness from Muscular Dystrophy).

We fixed boneless chicken in a Parmesan breading. About 2pm, I started dozing off and masked up.

I smelled chicken during the entire 2-hours I was masked up!!! Even my scented oil didn't mask it. It wasn't bad, per se, since the chicken smelled good, but to smell that while you're trying to sleep -- VERY distracting.

Smell was gone by bedtime, but I was surprised to find it that strongly a short time after cooking.
