What model of Oximeter do you have?

Dear all,
Most of the time I find no correspondence between the data of APAP and Pulse Ox. Of course, the value and pattern of both are important, but, which is more important? Sorry, if you find it a dumb question.
In my situation I don't think that correlating the data is a really big deal, I just use the pulse/ox as a sanity check to make sure that the 'ol bean is getting enough O2. I'll wear it once or twice a month or if I start tweaking some parameters with my therapy. If someone is in a sleep study or if you're self-treating then obviously you'll want to have as many data streams as you can get.

The beauty of the "throw-away" pulse/ox is that you can give it somebody who may have an issue and tell them to hit a button and put it on their finger before they go to bed; and they can bring it back the next day and let you have a look at their desats. It won't do much good for some sleep disorders, but it will tell you if you're not getting enough air. I think of it as a "check engine" light, it tells you if something is wrong but it won't tell you exactly what or how to fix it (that is a doctor's job anyway).

@Fatty:
I too would like to have a wireless data option. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the hacks are going to be machine specific. If you search the forums there are a few threads about attempts to use wireless-enabled SD cards to fetch the data remotely. At the present time the issue is that the vendor's cards are all using unsupported proprietary formats. I'm sure there is information to be gleaned from the sleepyhead developers as they already read the cards; but hacking the drivers on the cards to read the data is the major obstacle. This is my understanding, it may be a little bass-ackwards but it also might be worth pursuing. If you do decide to go that route you'll want to start with PR system one 60 series data format, because that's the one I've got.

Diggah,

I'll take you up on that if you can help with a simple test: Take your SD card from your cpap, put it in your computer and copy one small file to it. Then put the card back in the cpap. Does it still work or does it give an error?

The S9 does not allow foreign files so I'm having to modify the firmware of the SD WIFi cards to work around this. If the 60 series doesn't have this limitation it would be an easier test case.

I'll try it at some point but I'm pretty sure the Respironics is similar, that is to say I believe it is also formatted using it's own proprietary format. Hence my opinion that the solution will be specific to one make of cpap machine. If you do decide to get a wireless card and to hack it you're probably better off testing with the hardware you've got on hand anyway (I don't own a wireless card, and probably won't for the foreseeable future).

EDIT: I was mistaken, on my machine the SD card is formatted in plain old FAT32. Other threads are being started on this topic if you care to pursue it. Sorry for the confusion, so much for my learned opinion.
