Comments wanted about the Hose Buddy

Post by Always tired » Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:51 pm

The Sheriff swears by this product and I would appreciate any input.

If the Hose Buddy is held by the mattress and located behind your head what keeps the hose from brushing against your head as you turn, even with the swivel feature? Does it really keep the hose away from your head? Does it help with reducing tension on the mask elbow, rainout (as advertised) etc.
Thanks
A T

It depends on how much slack you give yourself between the top of the hose buddy and your head. I toss and turn a lot, so there's about 2-1/2 feet of slack on mine.
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!

Prescribed APAP range - 6-10 cm/H2O, titrated at 8.
Current range - 9.0-11.5 cm/H2O - still searching for the magic "zero night" but averaging 2.2 AHI

Personally, I was having a really hard time dealing with the tubing until I got one of the overhead tubing management things. It really helps me to have the tubing just drop out of the sky, and I can set the amount of slack to be comfortable and to work for me. I even take it with me when I travel, wouldn't be without it.

Ditto what RogerSC said. I use the Hose Buddy http://bro-gho.com/ at home and have a travel version as well.

How can you possibly trust the sheriff given that cat!!!

Although besides that I have the hose buddy and haven't found it so useful but then I have the machine on the floor so having to extend the hose from the floor to above the bed and then back down again is a bridge too far so I don't use it - except to hang clothes from it and the mask in the morning

I've used the hose buddy from the start and consider it one of my best cpap purchases. Wouldn't be with out it. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/HoseBu ... ystem.html

I love this, simple, uncomplicated and unobtrusive. It really helps with the leaks.

I tried it and it's a nice product, but it did not work for me while sleeping. I use it now on as a hanger for my mask during the day

With my higher bi-pap pressures, I found that in order to minimize my chin leaks with my FFM, I needed to have my hose lay on my chest.

I sleep on the left side of the bed & my machine sits next to it on the nightstand. 90% of the time, I sleep on my right side.

When I do sleep on my back or left side, my hose will lay on my chest and then get tucked up into my right arm and then routes itself back to the machine. My machine resides at the same level as my head.

I am like Squid... its the best best purchase I've made. There is no reason to drape a hose across your body all night. Someone once told me here they like to snuggle with the hose. I prefer the wife, but... to each their own . Make sure there is enough slack in the hose from the end of the hanger to your mask. I do a lot of turning over at night, but I'm not all over the bed. Make sure there is enough hose slack to accommodate your movement.

Egads. All this fuss. I just drape the hose over the headboard and leave slack. Of course, if there is no headboard I guess you go for a hosebuddy?
