I just downloaded my data off my smart card. Now when I plug it back in I cannot get a beep. I tried cleaning it with alcohol but it did not make a differenc, I tried erasing it still no difference. Do these cards die?
thanks Jim

Re: smart card
They normally don't die but it wouldn't be impossible.
I have to ask...are you sure you inserted it fully? Respironics machine???
Try inserting it knowingly backwards...that way you can listen for the multiple beeps point to being inserted wrong. That way you can confirm that the internal contacts on the machine are okay.

Re: smart card
I have a PRS1 560, and it only beeps when I remove my card, never when i insert it.
It does however show a card activity screen for about 20 seconds.

The older machines used a different type of data storage than your machine and its SD card.MrStein wrote:I have a PRS1 560, and it only beeps when I remove my card, never when i insert it.

Respironics used what they called a smart card. It's about the size of a credit card and when it was slid into the slot correctly we heard a single beep....normally and hopefully.
When inserted incorrectly we heard multiple beeps and when we didn't hear anything that usually meant we didn't quite insert the card in as far as it should go.
Sometimes the smart cards would go whacko and sometimes it was the module that the smart card was inserted in.
So if we didn't hear normal single beep then we push in a little further and if still nothing then we started worrying what was going on.
Glad you got it sorted out.not so sure wrote:Problem solved.
