Re: Has anyone cleaned thier mask in the dishwasher
I don't own a dishwasher but aren't the chemicals used in them highly abrasive and caustic?

Yes. The lighter plastics did not fare well so I never did it again.

Re: Has anyone cleaned thier mask in the dishwasher
I don't use a dishwasher to wash any of my PAP gear but a Forum member named archangle does. I have put a link to a post he did about it from a not so recent thread on cleaning frequency (9/18/2011). Perhaps he will see this and post more about it or you could always PM him. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68709&p=637762&hili ... ts#p637762

I've never tried it, but it may depend on *which mask* you put in the dishwasher.
Hans Rudolph 7600 V2 is the only one that I can think of, off hand, that actually makes the claim that you can clean it in the dishwasher, but there are probably others.

Re: Has anyone cleaned thier mask in the dishwasher
Following Archangel's lead, I am washing my Quattro mask, forehead cushion and the oxygen port piece in my dishwasher on a weekly basis.
But I still hand wash the cushion and anti-aphyixiation part.

I use unscented baby wipes to wipe down the mask on a daily basis, and I boil the silicone part of the mask with a little baking soda monthly. Have not used the dishwasher to do any mask cleaning yet, because I don't know how hot the water gets during the wash/rinse cycles. This might be a concern.

Re: Has anyone cleaned thier mask in the dishwasher
I wash the cushion for my élan every morning, by hand, with a half teaspoonful of All Free and Clear,
and warm water. It only takes about 20 seconds.
I then use a tumbled hematite to hang it from the mirror frame, so excess water drips into the sink.
Hot damsel! It's that easy!
Any headgear goes into a lingerie bag and regular cycle in my front load washer. (Sears He detergent)
Before anyone comments on bathrooms/e-coli/etc.; remember that e-coli exists wherever
there is man-made "organ music"; and at our age, our house is "musical" all over.

Re: Has anyone cleaned thier mask in the dishwasher
I rotate between two masks. I disassemble and dishwash one each week, along with the water tank. I use the hottest temperature my dishwasher can create. (A "NSF sanitize" cycle) I use extra rinse. No dishes at the same time. No heated try, but that doesn't seem to do any harm. Normal dishwashing powder.
I set the clean set aside, disassembled and let it dry for the week.
I've done this since 2004 on my Respironics ComfortGel and ComfortGel blue masks. I seem to get good lifetime from my masks. The silicone flaps and cushions eventually get sort of degraded, but that happens to people who hand wash, too.
I probably get about two years out of two sets of cushions and flaps. I see no obvious wear at all on the mask frame. The "flap" piece seems to eventually develop some cracks in the hard plastic where it attaches to the frame. I've occasionally had a flap develop a tear.
Realize that the flaps and cushions are considered to be expendable items anyway. Even if you do somehow damage a set of them, you're only out the cost of replacements. If you're on insurance, bet a new set of cushions and flaps as soon as insurance will pay, or order online, and dishwash one set a few times.
I dishwash both the dishwashable and "non-dishwashable" ResMed S9 tanks. The non-dishwashable S9 tank I have is the older "non-openable" style, but you can actually open it up with a little extra effort. I don't have the newer "nonwashable" S9 tank design that opens up. Some of my legacy Respironics tanks did develop a very slight "frosting" on the plastic after a few years, but nothing worrying.
I do not dishwash or machine wash the headgear.
I do not usually dishwash the hoses because I'm concerned the hoses will either not get washed off well inside, or will retain dirty water in the hose between rinse cycles. I just hook the hose up to the kitchen faucet and run the hottest water I can through it. Then I dry the hose on an old CPAP machine and let it sit dry for a week.
I would not wash any mask parts made out of foam.
The parts get very clean. I think you're only risking damage to your mask parts, not harm to your health. Dishwashing is very unlikely to damage the mask frame, and all the other parts are replaceable at fairly reasonable cost.

Re: Has anyone cleaned thier mask in the dishwasher
I just cleaned my mask a couple of hours in the dish sink. I used hand, hot water and dish soap. I did raise using cold water. For the tube, I used hot water to flash through. Simple as that.
