Best Book Reading-Friendly Mask
Best Book Reading-Friendly Mask
Hello all,
Please, does anyone know a best book reading-friendly Mask? Since masks are mostly used during sleep time, how about during day at home like when one needs to read a book but is falling asleep due to sleep apnea?

For me, I like the Piliaro best, second would be the Swift FX, third the SleepWeaver Elan (the Elan new small cushion should be better, I rated it 3rd since it sits higher on my face, slightly obstructing my vision.

I can read or work on my iPad when wearing my Aloha. Also, the Willow.
Re: Best Book Reading-Friendly Mask
The quattro fx was supposed to be good for reading but IS NOT if you wear glasses. I can't even read the settings on my unit w/o my glasses so I set things then hold my glasses near my face to make sure it is right. Ha. I have for years read gardening articles, etc. for a while before I go to sleep, often falling asleep wih my book or magazine still in hand. Now I get sleepy, then mask up etc. etc. It usually takes me ~ 5 min. to be fast asleep so I see no reason to change.

Re: Best Book Reading-Friendly Mask
I assume you mean a full-face mask? There are only a handfull of FF masks that have no center forehead support bars, and even fewer nasal masks that do so. Also, it depends on the size of your glasses and shape.
The Quattro FX kind of works ok with my glasses. The Hans Rudolph V2 and the PR FullLife also work ok with my glasses. Although the V2 requires a more tight fit than have other masks I have found and takes time to get used to.

I think, Aloha Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear looks good. Any mask that can allow me do reading of books might be very helpful.

Iam only interested in nasal masks. I am comfortable using the nose for breathing.

Re: Best Book Reading-Friendly Mask
That is correct because I was given it by a respiration therapist upon request. Iam currently undergoing trial test til January 10. Then will be able to change. I really do not like it.Cereal Killer wrote:Your equipment profile lists a full face mask.

This is important to me also. I've tried the sleep weaver masks, FX for her, Pilairo and Aloha. For me the Aloha is the best for reading, side sleeping and staying in place. Hope you find one that works for you.

Did they explain to you that nasal masks are for those that do not mouthbreathe and full face masks are for those that mouthbreathe? If you mouthbreathe using a nasal mask it is likely that the pressure escapes out your mouth and you still have apneas. A FFM will maintain the pressure when the mouth is open.
I sleep most of the night with my mouth closed. But in REM sleep it opens and I have horrible apneas if using a nasal mask. My Innomed Hybrid FFM allows me to sleep comfortably all night. It also allows wearing reading glasses or watching TV.

Go VVV, Go VVV, Go VVV, Go VVV . I like this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKJuqT7xxuE. Like you, I sleep most of the night with my mouth closed. But in REM sleep it opens and I have horrible apneas. They did not explain to me that nasal masks are for those that do not mouthbreathe and full face masks are for those that mouthbreathe. I will be switching to nasal mask because i use nose for breathing.VVV wrote:mcpascaln wrote:That is correct because I was given it by a respiration therapist upon request. Of those you list, I've tried all except the Aloha. I'm going to try the Aloha, maybe I'll like it better & have fewer leaks.eeckel wrote:This is important to me also. Re: Best Book Reading-Friendly Mask
ComfortGel and ComfortGel Blue nasal masks work pretty well for me with glasses. Your fit may vary with face/mask/frame size and shape. I put on chin strap, then glasses, then mask. I sleep with glasses and mask in a recliner.
I did buy prescription single vision reading glasses just for this purpose at zennioptical. They were about $10 and work fine. I chose some small frames to increase the chance of fitting. The single vision works better than bifocals because I don't have to tilt my head up and down to find the right spot.
