Anybody want to weigh in? My RERAs usually range from 0.25 - 0.50% on a nightly basis. How would this rank in terms of seriousness, especially regarding this article. BTW, thanks for providing the link kaiasgram...kaiasgram wrote: Your description of fragmented sleep with multiple arousals and failure to attain deep sleep is the same story I've heard from people who end up being diagnosed with UARS -- upper airway resistance syndrome. This causes the RERAs that I mentioned in my previous post, and the effortful breathing is what causes all the arousals and makes it difficult to impossible to get into deep sleep. It may show as mild apnea or even no apnea on a sleep study. If you'd like to read more about it: http://doctorstevenpark.com/uarsthehiddensleepcondition

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Stillo,
All the referenced materials in this thread are a great place for you to start your research. Post back here after you have had time to read and absorb this. Also post anything you don't understand and we can try to help interpret some of the more tech stuff (if we can, some was always over my head during my search, so I made an 'alternate' file and researched some of the statements I didn't understand. It will be easier for you to just ask & see if forum members can help with this.
I think someone already asked, but it would be helpful for you to post - do you still have your CPAP or did they take it back? Continuing with CPAP can't hurt in your case, although it doesn't seem to be helping much, perhaps will be more effective if you don't have to keep turning it off to help dr with diagnosis.
We are here for you & sometimes threads get a little off track, there are issues going on in the US that cause a lot of political talk. I'm not going to say that is wrong, we do need to have these discussions, but hopefully a new threat can be posted for that, if it is, I'll chime in there. For the time being, I think we all want to help Stillo, so if you are still reading Stillo, I'm here for you, PM me if you like,
Jen

Re: Help Desperately needed please
Good Morning all
In reply to Kaisagrm i was compliant with cpap and yes it was controlling my apnea unfortunately,i was whilst using cpap and i still am awake for at least 70% of the night and i could no longer tolerate the mask on my face whilst wide awake. i was advised to stop using the machine to see if it made any difference and it did not, i was then told i would need to go back to see my GP to ask if i could have the cpap back again which i never did, i can have it returned if i need it but i would be required to become a new Patient again.
I have read these posts and the most interesting thing that stands out for me is that i think i may be suffering from UARS i seem to fit the symptoms, although i have had a Mandibular advancement device made for me it did not work and unfortunately once again i was told i would have to stop using it due to it causing TMJ, i must admit that when i first used Cpap i was extremely tired but still unable to sleep no matter how tired i was, that seems to have changed over the last few months i now seem to suffer from fatigue rather than sleepiness i can sleep but for no more than 45-90 minutes at a time i wake up fully wide awake and i takes me about 10 minutes to get back to sleep and then it starts all over again this repeats all throughout the night, thank you all very much for your time and efforts to try and help me i feel that you have all offered me more advise and help than has my Hospital Specialists and Doctors
Cheers

Re: Help Desperately needed please
Being compliant and using cpap doesn't mean its working for you. Why do you wake up? Are you having problems using the machine? Do your wakenings occur in patterns? Do you wake up during the lighter sleep stages or randomly. These light sleep stages are about every 2 hours. When you wake up do you feel refreshed only to find that about after an hour of two of being awake your tired again and go back to sleep.
Re: Help Desperately needed please
Hello Borgready
I was told that the machine had reduced my apnea events to less than 5 so i presume it was working i was never told it wasn't, i do seem to wake up in the lighter stages of sleep more than any other stage but i must stress that i do wake up through all the stages. When i wake up i generally feel that i could go about my day as if i had been asleep all night even after less than 1 hour, but that does not last very long and i become very tired easily at that point. When i finally get out of bed i feel awake but within about 30-60 minutes i am overcome be severe fatigue and not sleepiness if you understand what i mean ( sorry sometimes im told that people don't understand how i can be fatigued and not tired) even i sometimes have difficulty differentiating between the two
Cheers
