Might Quit APAP Therapy
Re: Might Quit APAP Therapy
Speaking of ajustments, Mike could never tolerate the Flex settings on his RemStar M Series Auto because it didn't match his breathing pattern, so when we got the S9 Autoset I never turned on EPR thinking it would have the same problem. For the last few months his data has been shaky and he was getting a little tired so I turned on the EPR to 1 to see if it made a difference, VOILA! His AHI immediately went from 4 to 2. Then I set EPR to 2 and numbers were still good and he was rested. Not satisfied I increased the pressure from 12 to 12.4 with EPR still at 2 this week and his AHI's have been 1-1.5. No leaks, sleeping quietly. So even after a long time, therapy adjustments may be needed and knowledge and patience is required. Someone here once said untreated OSA is "death by a thousand cuts".

Throw the kitchen sink at him. That should help.hyperlexis wrote:You may have Epstein Barr virus or chronic fatigue syndrome? Possibly a bad mattress?

To my way of thinking your body may be rebounding from years of sleep deprivation. Now that it is getting the oxygen it needs it is really relaxing and craving more of the rest it needs to catch up. Ten days isn't long enough to adjust to good sleep.Mozart22 wrote:I'm creating a new thread with several screenshots. I hope you will all look at it and tell me why I feel more tired not less.
Years ago a niece of my wife's came to stay with us for a few days. She had been staying with another aunt's family, and returned there after being with us. The other aunt accused my wife of not letting the niece get enough sleep because when she returned she was very tired. My wife said it was just the opposite. Her niece had been so uptight staying with her other aunt her body was sleep deprived. At our home she slept hours and very well. Her body craved that continued rest and manifested that desire by being tired when she returned to the other aunt. Something like that may be what you are experiencing. In another month or two you should be caught up and rested and feeling much better.
CPAP therapy does not provide a cure overnight [no pun intended!] As has been said, some folks go months before they have the rested feeling that comes from good sleep. There is no one standard response curve by all patients. This is one area of medical treatment where patients must practice patience!
