Question about NUMASK CPAP
Has anyone heard about NUMASK as an alternative to using a general facemask for CPAP therapy? I'm reading up on it on the web and I think it'd be a very inexpensive alternative, has anyone here used it or experinced it before?

Re: Question about NUMASK CPAP
Wrong! Numask is a device allowing CPR to be administered with lowered chance for infection.
It has nothing to do with CPAP.
Edit: I was wrong.

Re: Question about NUMASK CPAP
NuMask is also for CPAP and BIpap, it is a multi function mask, but it like all the others does not account for Jaw Drop.
Basically it is just a mouth piece that fits into your mouth and then has a strap across your face that holds the mouth piece and covers your nose. If you have jaw drop the cover won't hold your jaw up and your nose can move around and leak. I havne't tired it but a friend of mine has and it's like all the other masks out there, it works for some and not others.
I started working on a full face device about two weeks after I got my machine and mask. The device is intended to work for people who have jaw drop and I am getting really close. I work on it every other night and have gotten it to completely stop leaks for those without jaw drop ( a friend and my grandson were my guinea pigs and are sleepy well now) I have greatly reduced leaks for myself (but there is no stoping my jaw) My husband says "god you can't even keep your mouth shut while you are sleeping"?!?! lol No I can't.
I am pretty hopeful though and I am almost there with it. I am not going to stop till I get it right! I have my husband ( a carpenter) and his friend who works as a technical designer with plastics and other materials helping me with the mechanical aspects.
As soon as I feel confident in the function and know it works I will let you all know. I would like to get them out and will be randomly picking a few individuals who continue to experience problems with jaw drop when I am done for testing and feedback. It will be free for those interested in the trial run.
I am just really disappointed in the manufactures. With all the new technology available it is hard to believe that they haven't come out with something that conforms to the face and reacts to movement. I think it is a greed issue and they know if they fix it then the need to replace masks will decrease. It's more than unethical and I personally have had enough with unethical companies taking advantage of those in need.

This had been available for quite some time; (the headgear looks a lot less Hannibal Lector-ish):

Re: Question about NUMASK CPAP
FWIW --- The Respironic ComfortGel Blue FFM is an awesome FFM mask... The gel cushion really helps solve leaks by conforming to the contours of your face.
Unfortunately, it did not work for me due to my higher Bi-Pap pressures of 21 IPAP / 15 EPAP.

The numask is supposed to be an alternative to using a ffm so it's related.
