I think that someone has been working on an EEG cap--(better sensors should eliminate the need for glue in the hair;)
and make that part of the test portable and easy to administer. Better sensors could also be used elsewhere on the body--no glue needed.
It makes sense that a doctor should be able to rule out most contraindications to APAP long before a PSG.
A cellular connection to the administrating medical facility could alert staff to any unforeseen emergency.
Much of the science has already taken place; if only the politics would catch up.
Sleep labs must do something with all that money--hire lobbyists? --pay bribes?

Hi chunkyfrog,

With over 20 years as a broadcast technician under my belt, the technical issues look to be a cakewalk!

I really do hope that the maker of all things will send my way a helper - politically capable.

I am not.

Have a great weekend!

Todzo

Not me; the height of my political skill is limited to finally being able to hold my tongue! (temporarily, at best)

The Polysomnogram. They still do it the old fashioned way. They have you travel, often great distance, to spend the night in front of strangers in a lab.

I remember an ad for a competitor to the iPhone. The little joke was the guy was saving place in the long line to get the latest - for his parents.

The technology to bring the entire Polysomnogram into the home has been around for a long time.

The thing is if I take an animal who sleeps in an under ground den to a lab and then call his observed sleep there "normal" my fellow researchers will cry fowl.

But when the doctors take a normal human being out of his comfortable home and place him in a lab - the medical researchers will call “Golden Standard”.

I cry fowl!!

Delta Dave,

Come on now, you know that name calling has no place on this board.

You're better than that.

AAMOF, it's mandatory that if a guy is acting like an asshole, that the other guys need to step up and tell him he's acting like an asshole.

It's kinda like when somebody has a seed stuck in their teeth, or when a woman comes out of the bathroom having tucked the back of their dress in their underwear.

It's something that just needs to be done! They'll thank you for it afterwards!

Delta Dave,

It is called civility and no, telling someone they are an asshole has no place on this board in my opinion.

I mean really, would you say that to a co-worker, boss, or patient you disagree with?

Deltadave... while I get the reason you said what you did... consider that expressing yourself in another way would have been the way to go.
