Tight Chest Feeling

Post by Js4tda » Mon Dec 03, 2012 11:21 am

Been on therapy for about 45 days everything is great. One thing is bothering ever since therapy when I wake up in the morning I have like a tightness in chest almost like a cramp on the inside of chest. Never bothered to ask earlier. But just saw a post where someone was having problem with the C+ on his machine. He was mentioning something about to much pressure maybe expanding his lungs all night and this may have been causing the chest pains. Would appreciate any help or direction on some reading.

the pressure splints open the airway. it does not expand the lungs. cpap pressure can't even blow up a balloon. you may be breathing deeper. if it doesn't get better you may want to talk to the doctor to rule out any other problems.

Thanks, I known that I have pretty much started breathing deeper almost intentionally. I thought that this would help with therapy. Maybe I should start getting myself back into a normal breathing depth.

Your are breathing against pressure....this means that you could be using the diaphram in ways you are not used too. It is like weight training. As your diaphram strenghtnens, the pain should end.

I have some occasions of similar chest tightness. I called my pulmo/sleep doctor, and she actually called me back.
She also confirmed that the tightness can originate from the diaphragm working against a new pressure. It usually will get better.
I was advised to pay attention and monitor blood pressure (always do). Also get a 25$ pulse oximeter and check it regularly.
I have been on APAP since Nov 2nd and I notice the nights when I have higher pressures, the chest tightness will show up for a couple of days.
As with ANY chest pains, you should pay very close attention and check with your physician.

Any chest pain that gets worse with exertion requires an immediate visit to the ER!

Call the Doctor. It could be nothing, not, its something. Chest pains are not normal. You should find out what it is. Piece of mind if nothing else.
