USB card readers don't need software in Windows.

We need to know what kind of CPAP machine you have. It wouldn't surprise me if smart card readers for older CPAP machines don't work with Win8.

I was able to use the S8 smart card reader with Windows 8. I say "was" because I got fed up with Windows 8 after a week, and went back to Windows 7.

I don't why my machine doesn't show on here I have it listed in my profile. I am using a Remstar Auto M Series with a Infeer Card Reader with Encore 1.8 Software.

Probably it doesn't show because it's a discontinued machine. Mine doesn't show either and it's in my profile. It showed when I first registered with Cpaptalk.

Bad timing on Windows 8. A lot of things have not been worked out for Windows 8 yet. Encore 1.8 will not run on Windows 8. I think it went out with Vista. I think Encore Basic may run. Someone recently got it to run on Win 8 but I seem to recall they had to load it on a Win 7 machine and copy it to Win 8. Are you running Windows 8 in 32 or 64 bit. I have the drivers for the mako card reader in my Dropbox and I can give you the link if you know which one you need.

I still have my old XP so I am using that for my card reading. I suspected there would be some issues with Window 8 . I would gladly bought a machine with 7 on it. All the good deals already had 8 loaded on them. I will probably keep using my old computer for now.

Thanks Jim
