Any forum/help source for delayed sleep phase disorder???

Post by snamvar » Thu Jan 13, 2005 3:52 pm

This forum has been a god sent for info and aupport for CPAP and related issues. Is there any other forum or help-source for treating Advanced/Delayed Sleep phase syndrome? This is where your sleep-wake cycle is early or late. I am a night owl and has been for the past 25 years. I need to sync my internal clock with the rest of the world. It seems that when I try to wake up early, I am at 50% of efficiency cognitively and my mood is on the edge all day.
I got my self an Aplollo light and am not having much of success.

You might try regulating that delayed circadian rhythm with your Apollo light therapy in the mornings and melatonin tablets in the evenings. You may even need to lengthen your daily exposures to light early in the day as well. My understanding is that the light-source distance from the eyes is very crucial.

And, of course, bear in mind that unpaid sleep debt can contribute to morning "mind fog" as well.

I found a great article on "biological clock" and how light therapy and Melatonin can help with Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome:
