new Wisp mask?

Post by newname » Sat Nov 24, 2012 7:30 pm

Has anyone tried this mask? I'm using the Mirage FX for her and I have trouble keeping the straps attached, so I'm thinking of trying the new Wisp.

I am interested in this mask also.
I am not aware of anybody that has the mask in stock at this time.

I guess I misunderstood the e-mail I received. It says "coming soon".

It does look interesting... planning on checking this mask out.

Edit: There is already a video on UTube describing how to put the mask on, adjust, etc. Must be coming out soon.

I am told the fabric frame is reversible, to provide a choice in textures.

Respironics - Wisp
http://www.respironics.ca (photo seen above)
This is also a very unique mask. The
headgear is all material and the nose
piece is reminiscent of the old Simplicity
from Respironics. We have just
ordered these in so I haven’t received

This is email from the place i deal with in Canada

That company is in Toronto ON (647 area code.) The price will be a lot less in the States and especially on cpap.com. Based on the Ontario price of the F&P ESON (200.00) vs the cpap.com price (99.00). I would put it in the 100-130 range.

I understand that it is released in a "limited launch" in the US. I would check with your home care company. Mine stated they should be receiving their inventory the first week of January - it looks pretty cool and I am eager to try it.

CPAP.COM said they were expecting it in early February. I am going to call my Medical Supplier and ask them if they are getting it or can get it for me soon. i am due for a new mask soon anyway as well as some other stuff. I'll post back here when I get an answer from them. I am in MA.

Just got mine, going to try it tonight. I've put it on, adjusted my machine for nasal setting. Seems to be very hard to breath with it on compared to my Swift FX, but we'll see.
I'll report back tomoorow

Tried the Wisp just last night for the first time. Comfortable. Of course it's too early to make a good decision without further use, but I slept well. Got about 7 hrs last night with it. AHI of 4.7 with it so needs further adjustment with additional nights of trial. No large leaks even with a moustache plus being an active sleeper going from side to side. Enjoyed having my eyes totally free from view obstruction. I like to read and watch tv while winding down for sleep.

I have the reversible fabric frame model. It comes with petite, small/medium, and large (total of 3) size cushions included along with a sizing guide. The included flexible tubing detaches easily from the mask in case you need to get up in the night so you don't have to remove the entire mask. Headgear is comfortable too and stays in place.

Time will tell......

I primarily use the Eson (not supported by Apria) and the Mirage FX for her, small. When I need a replacement, I can't get the Eson, so will have to buy out of pocket. I would try the Wisp as it looks like what I'm looking for. Question is how does the Wisp compare with the Eson? What are the differences? Thanks for your help.

Update -

I had a reasonabley good night, AHI 0.9, pressure 8.4 to 13.8 cm but the headgear was uncomfortable caused redness below my right eye near the top right side of the cushion (may have been too tight), I love that it was very comfortable when on my back, but I mostly sleep on my side. I'm trying the silicone headgear tonight instead, my DME has said that Phillips is now supplying extra headgear with purchase of mask due to problems with 1st batch of headgear. (I got 2 fabric and 1 silicone headgear)

I read a few posts on various forums including here indicating to change mask type setting to "Nasal" and that pressures were higher using this mask so I changed my autoset range from 7.6 -> 12 to 8.0 -> 15. Rescan has indicated consistently 10-10.5 cm as my 95th percentile with my Swift FX, I'll be narrowing my range once I have a couple weeks worth of data with this mask.

I noticed the clips on this mask were flimsy plastic which I think will break in no time so I have chosen to pull the headgear on instead of using the clips. The clips do look like they can be replaced and I'd suggest everyone get extras from their DME incase one breaks when putting headgear on (You wouldn't want to be without your mask even for a night).
