New Version Breeze vs. Aura

I need some opinions please. I now switch between the Aura and the UMFF. I am considering purchasing the new version Breeze. How different is the Breeze from the Aura? My problem with the Aura is that the pins that the rubber padding goes over keep breaking off. I love the flexiblity of the Aura and just wondered if the breeze is much different. Thanks for any input.

Bear in mind that I have so little experience that this advice may be meaningless! - BUT - I've been using the ComfortLite2 for three nights (told ya it wasn't much) and slept through the night last night.

At one point I actually woke up for a little bit and it dawned on me that I couldn't feel the mask - it just seemed natural.

Now, I spent about 30 minutes last night in front of the mirror adjusting every little thing and I'm sure that paid off but I can't say enough good things about this mask.

Remember though that I have NO experience with the others.

As I look at the pictures of what you're using I should caution you that the CL2 has much more "headgear" and sits in front of the nose on the way down. The nice part about that is that the angle and length of the front piece are variable in tiny increments so that one can get the pillows to just touch the nose without touching anything else at all. The first couple of nights the headstraps were a bit bothersome but they're soft and very adjustable as well so it's not a problem now. Lastly, the hose attaches at the top of the head so it doesn't bother when turning over. Since I vacillate from side to side that's really important for me.

I have used an Activa, breeze and now the Comfortlite II, but can't seem to get it to seal without leaking (using the simple cushion) and causing me to wake up during the night.

Any advice would be welcome!

sleepyred, when I use the ComfortLite 2, I use it with the nasal pillows, which work fine for me. I tried the "simple cushion" nose covering piece once but found that little thingy to be too leaky.

However, in the interests of lab-ratting, I used the "simple cushion" again last night. This time with my infamous pantyhose tights leg around the nasal part to steady it in place. Worked great like that.

Perhaps three times during the night, I woke up briefly to have to adjust the homemade strap up or down a bit to stop a leak, sometimes moving it off the cushion entirely and letting it be several inches above the exhaust, sometimes moving it below the exhaust and exactly around the nasal cushion itself. Probably I could fix it to secure both spots (above and below) and not have any leaks.

One reason I think the simple cushion is prone to leak is that it's rather flimsy anyway. As the night goes on and the silicone gets warm, it softens more...becomes a little too flexible.

And if the skin directly under the edges of the cushion have gotten the least bit moist from skin oils or moisture from exhaled breath (or heated humidification) that little cushion is very apt to slip more, or an edge slide outward from the air pressure.

That's when the added homemade strap can give just that little bit of extra support to keep the cushion staying in place better.

Aura's (Aeiomed's "Headrest") still my favorite, with CL2 in close second. But I have to use a stabilizing homemade strap with both interfaces. No problem, as the material in "tights" is soft and stretchy. The interfaces themselves are soooo comfortable for me, it's worth the extra tweak.

Thanks for lab ratting Rested Gal! I can clearly see all your points about the simple cushion. I'll try the hose hose head thing again. I've got a cold now and will probably use my activa until I'm well. I'm going to give the cc2 another shot - thanks for your support and EXPERT advice (as usual!)

I'm not clear on what you're referring to as "pins".

Are you talking about the wire inside the rubber by your nostrils?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this but the "pins" I am refering to are the ones that hold the rubber headgear piece to the hard plastic piece. I hope this clarifies things a little. I am still trying to decide what to do. Thanks for all of the input.

My husband has the Breeze and it's not working for him. He sleeps on his back and moves around too much. The Breeze is not good if you do these things. It hurts his nose if it's tight enough to stay on and it leaks if he sleeps on his back.

This is his first mask so yeah another rookie here too. He's planning on trying the Activa next.

That's odd. I just now looked at an intact Aura I have (most of mine have been cut down the way I like them...lol!) and those pins seem to be solidly in place. I remember pulling the rubber backing off one that I had deconstructed, just out of curiosity to see what was under it. It didn't take a whole lot of pulling to pop the rubber off the pins, but I don't remember them breaking off.

I'm not saying you mistreat yours like I did mine! LOL!! Perhaps you have one with a defective backing. What I'm thinking is that if you're soaking the headgear very often, especially if you happen to use very hot water, do you think that could that be loosening the pins and the backing?

I only soak the mask once a week and I use just above luke warm water with a 1/4 vinegar and 3/4 water solution. I am not sure what is going on. I am not missing enough pins now to keep the mask from functioning but I am afraid that is what is going to happen the more I clean the mask. I have used super glue to re attach all but two of the pins. The hot water thing is a great suggestion. If I had been using super hot water that would certainly be something that would have never crossed my mind.
