Dealing with extreme "bed head" caused by masks?

Post by DougalMcDougal » Mon Nov 19, 2012 2:40 pm

any tips on dealing with or preventing the extreme 'bed head' effect caused by a full face mask?
my hair sticks up in all directions, has a centrally depressed ridge and is generally crazy when waking up from a night with a full face mask

i haven’t got time in the morning to wash my hair
i find that wetting it then wearing a baseball cap for 20 mins makes it a bit more presentable but still been getting a few queries at work about whether I've been out on the town the night before

I bought a little hat off eBay that is made for cancer patients. It is very soft and the headgear keeps it in place. I've used it since I first started therapy. No tangles yet and I have loooong curly ish hair

I gather my hair into a ridiculously short ponytail, dress my face,
remove the elastic, and let my hair flop over the headgear.
Any ridge thus created vanishes when I doff the gear and brush my graying locks.

Does it make your head sweat? That's my concern over something that covers my head like that.

Would you happen to still have a link or the seller's name? If it's something I consider (and I've thought of it already even though I don't even have my CPAP equipment yet ), it'd be worth going with an at least semi-known/trusted seller...

I've got two of these that I rotate. All cotton and haven't noticed any sweating. Great seller.

I don't have a problem with bead head, but I do have a problem with the straps leaving dents in my hair on top of my head and at the nap of my neck. After only 5 months of CPAP usage, these dents are becoming permanent, and even when I wash and style my hair they don't go away. I've tried thick head wraps made of terry cloth, but I still get the dents. With the AirFit P10, the elastic has to be tight enough or the nasal pillows won't stay in. Hats and caps don't help this issue at all. I've tried thick foam under the straps, too, and that still doesn't help.

Get a bottle of kids detangler. You can spray it on and leave it in. Gets rids of tangles and pony tail lines too. Can buy it at most dollar stores.

Two year old thread.
I cut my hair really short just before my breast surgery, right when I realized
my hubby is completely incapable of making a pony tail.

You know that "Airing" think would sure solve the hair problem for those of us that have hair!
