Leakage

Post by Shadow2 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:44 pm

Hi, I have rescan but I don't understand the leakage, I do believe my leakage is excessive, and am trying to work out where it is coming from. I now where the chinstrap (ugh) and there seems to be some improvement but what does it mean when they say 95 percentile? median, and max? also what is a good leak and bad leak, i think mine might be bad... cheers

Look in my signature line for the SleepyHead tutorial under construction thread. Leaks were discussed in that thread.

Short version...ResMed machines report excess leak only. It subtracts a generic intentional vent rate based on pressure and mask selection prior to report leak numbers. So what you see is all excess or unwanted leak.
ResMed says they can compensate for leaks up to 24 L/min. Above that therapy and sensing date can be impaired.

95% leak just means that for 95% of the time your leaks were at OR below that number. People tend to forget the or below part.
Maximum leak..just the highest it went to
Average is a median average I believe.
Minimum is just the lowest leak...normally 0.0 because when we start the night we usually don't have any leaks at all.

If you want to post your report for member review then we can see what you are seeing and answer specific questions better.
This thread talks about what is needed to be done to post images if you don't know how.
