Do you have a CPAP hose lift?

Post by king_alvaro » Wed Nov 14, 2012 11:20 pm

I was searching here on this site cpap..com and I found a CPAP hose lift system. I raises your hose and they say it helps from keeping the hose untangle. Do anybody here uses a system like that.

I recently bought one from eBay for under $15. The base of it sits between your mattresses. At the top of the pole is a swing arm with a place to attach your hose. It is simple, inexpensive and works great! My mask no longer gets tugged on when I roll over in my sleep. I have fewer leaks now! I've also seen articles and videos where people have rigged their own device from a hook attached to the ceiling and a series of connected long rubber bands. If you don't mind what your device looks like, I would think this method would work also. Kat

Yes, also heard of people using headboards...some pretty creative people out there *smile*.

I have one of the ones whree the base goes between your mattress and box spring, too, and it works for me. Before I had one, managing that tubing was problematic with lightweight headgear and nasal pillows. Having the tubing come out of the sky is much more manageable.

Tried it and did not work for me...

I've found that by having my hose go straight down and then close to my chest, I have zero leaks around the bottom of my mask at my chin.

We have a canopy bed with a HUGE headboard with lights on it. I hang my hose from one of the lights right above my head, works great.

I use the Hose Buddy. It was the best investment I've made. As was previously stated, lots of forum folks have come up with clever ways to manage their hose. The reason I tried the Hose buddy was because after being successful in cpap therapy, I noticed I was sleeping so well, I was lying on my hose and ended up ripping the hose when it got lodged under me. It was a great problem to have. Plus, I used to have straighten or adjust the hose at night when I turned. That was a nuisance, so the hose buddy eliminated that completely. I highly recogmend it.

Hose Buddy here as well. It squeaks a little, but not enough to be annoying. I had to get a 10' hose to make sure I had enough clearance to make it all the way across the bed (ST who did my study said I was the most active sleeper she'd ever seen).
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!

Prescribed APAP range - 6-10 cm/H2O, titrated at 8.
Current range - 9.0-11.5 cm/H2O - still searching for the magic "zero night" but averaging 2.2 AHI

To get rid of the squeak, unhook it, take it outside, spray WD-40 onto the two connecting pieces. Wipe down the outside of the two pieces to get rid of the smell.

Even if one does not get a Hose management system, I strongly recommend finding a way to tie down the hose at one point, maybe near the machine, so one can not accidentally drag the xPAP onto the floor.

Yes, I use the Hose Buddy, I like it, I believe that it helps to keep my leaks lower. That is just a personal observation. I do believe those who say it is worse than a bother, it is a personal experience.

It works well for me. I don't move the hose unintentionally with my arms (which may pull the mask and cause leaks or need to readjust it). My cat also has a much harder time reaching the hose.
If you give it a try, just make sure the hose is not fully stretched. Since the hose is suspended from above, its weight doesn't pull the mask.

Here is the system I have used from its conception: CozyHoze Boss™ is the best CPAP hose management solution on the market.
Small enough to fit in your shirt pocket, it mounts to the wall using 3M Command Adhesive strips that are guaranteed not to damage surfaces and are removed with a simple tug on the tab. Or they can be used for permanent mounting.

The product consists of a wall mounting hook and two spring loaded, self-retracting reels with just enough tension to keep the hose up out of your way while at the same time providing low-friction full range of motion for every sleeping position. Traveling is a breeze. Just remove the hook from the wall and leave the reels attached to the hose. Imagehttp://www.pur-sleep.com/products/prodD ... rch=&page=

I do a lot of traveling so I have used these on a Train and a Bus<Not good> many Hotels and Friends & Relatives home with NO PROBLEMS.... Before getting the CozyHoze Boss™ I had one of the folding contraptions that was a pain in the Packing and setup.

At home: plant hanger/fishing pole/hair scrunchies.
Away from home: Clothespins, binder clips, scrunchies, and key card reels (to attach to curtains, etc.)
I tend to lay on my hose. (Lazer: shhh!)

I bought one from the Walter Drake catalogue and it came to me with the base broken off , but I made a new base for it and it works fine for me. The thing wobbles, but I can fix that I guess. Well Good luck if you get one or what ever you make to work for you. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay
