VERY URGENT, Gary. You may be a lamb headed for the slaughter if you don't know which machine to get.
Many DMEs will try to sell you a cheap machine that doesn't collect any useful data, just "compliance," which is hours turned on and off. The DMEs make more money on the less capable units, so they will try to steer you to the cheap models.
For the same price, you can get a machine that will record every breath and tell you how many apneas you have every night. You can check the results yourself. It's like a mini sleep study every night.
Find out which DMEs in your area are "in network" for your insurance. You aren't stuck with your doctor's DME. Be sure your doctor's DME IS actuall in network for your insurance.
Check the links in my signature line for more info.
Try to get a ResMed S9 AutoSet (not S9 Auto, not S9 Escape Auto) or a PRS1 (Philips Respironics) Auto. If you can't get them, get a ResMed S9 Elite or PRS1 Pro. Avoid S9 Escape or PRS1 Plus.
Can Cpap machine be repaired?

Re: Can Cpap machine be repaired?
Check out the sale products on cpap.com (hosts of this forum. They have a PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex on sale for $595. It says that it is fully efficacy data capable, but maybe someone else could confirm that. The advantage of an Auto machine is that it will adjust your pressure if you need it adjusted, but you should also be able to use it as a straight cpap if that is what stops you keeping your wife awake!

_BResmed says I can send mine to Ohio to get checked out,BUT what to use while it's gone? My 1st 1 was 10yrs old and I was told they're only supossed to last about 5-6 yrs then may need to be replaced. You may want to just get a modern 1 insurance will probably pay for it.
Re: Can Cpap machine be repaired?
Listen carefully to archangel - I got a new machine just before I found this board and I REGRET my choice the F&P Icon, whatever you choose, don't get the Icon, for many, many reasons I won't bore you with. Again, LISTEN CAREFULLY to those wise one's here when choosing a machine. I think you can get a great one for less than $1,100 thru either CPAP.com or one of the members on this forum who may be selling a used machine.archangle wrote:VERY URGENT, Gary.
