JediMark's back...

Post by jedimark » Wed Nov 07, 2012 5:46 am

Hi Guys & Gals

I haven't checked my data properly for nearly 9 months. I have barely checked or replied to my emails/messages much over that time either. I haven't been able to concentrate on code at all, even the fun stuff I really enjoyed. Gah! No fun. Boooooo!

I've been in a semi-comatose depressive state for the majority of this time because I was not emotionally equipped to deal with all the crap life throws at us. In my case, my wife of over 10 years chose to be stupid and unfaithful. Ouch. Wounds are still healing, but we chose to stick together, rebuild, and are getting on with life. (Not looking for relationship advice here thanks, so please don't: I've had enough conflicting advice to last a lifetime)

Well, for anyone still wondering why the SleepyHead updates from me went silent, this is my reason. Didn't need to share it, but I wanted to. Those who have experienced a similar kick in the guts will probably better understand why it has affected me like this.

I ***am*** slowly starting to feel "normal" again.. (YAY!) My code powers haven't fully returned yet.. I probably just need to go out and get bitten by a radioactive super-hacker again. :-p

I have however faithfully been hooked up to the hose every night, so at least I've been preserving whatever brain cells I had left.. though the occasional self medication with booze might have countered some of that

I finally have my office organized now.. a nice area to work, and a new iMac as a creative/developer station, and have access to a few different touch screen devices. Hopefully will help me to hit the ground running again.. (or is that pick myself up off the ground and start running again? )

Thanks to Rich for picking up the slack for me with SleepyHead, especially with the git builds and the 60 series patches and stuff. My first tasks as a functioning human again will involve incorporating his patches into the main tree. There are a few others that have helped a lot too, which I am grateful for.. I gotta go through and actually read some more of my inbox. Ugh.. I'll be playing catch up for quite a while.

Anyway, they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.. I must be getting pretty darn buff by now..

Thanks to all for your support and encouragement!

/Mark

I am glad you are slowly healing from a very painful time. I hope you can once again enjoy the things you used to. I wish you smooth sailing and happier times ahead.

Glad you are starting to feel better. Your health is more important than Sleepyhead.
Welcome back.

Welcome back!

And there is nothing in the world like the feeling you get when your code runs with minimal errors for the first time! Better then any drugs!

Hi Mark,

We haven't met, as I'm a newbie (Day 27). I want to say THANK YOU for the Sleepyhead software. I faithfully download my data every morning, and have you to thank for that.

I went to my 30 day follow up with my doc yesterday and when he presented me with the Rescan charts, I told him that I had all my data downloaded. He asked where I got it, and I told him some wonderful poster on the message board created it. "So you bought it?" Nope! Again, thanks so much!

Kristine

Hi JediMark -- First and foremost, welcome back. Second, thank you for the amazing gift of SleepyHead that you've given us. With my beloved iMac there is no other software I can use but that's ok because I got the best of the best. Sincere thanks to you. Third, it takes guts, commitment, and a deep capacity for forgiveness to get past an infidelity, so kudos to you for doing that very hard repair work (this is not advice, just an observation of a marital therapist). I hope the upcoming New Year brings you health, healing, and happiness.

Best wishes.
