I need to clarify a couple of things - I have NO ill will towards him. In many ways I respect his opinion and value her sense of professional resonsibility. As for many issues people complain about - sympathy/empathy for situations, understanding family issues take precedence, etc - I cannot complain; it's the "craziness" that is taking its toll on me. I am sooooo looking forward to when I can retire!

You're ahead of me there!
I grew to HATE my old D-bag boss; and very nearly threw a party when he finally left.
The only way he is welcome to my retirement party is hog-tied to the seat in the dunk tank!

Good, good, let the paranoia flow through you.

I'm half joking, but better safe than sorry.

As I've said, I've seen some folks get caught on the internet with coincidences you wouldn't believe. Someone mentions something about their wife or girlfriend on some obscure bulletin board and the wrong person from real life recognizes a picture, and BOOM. I've seen fights, divorce, stalking, etc.

Now that facebook and others are doing facial recognition and linking everything. I'm constantly getting invites to join various groups along with lists of people I need to know because people I know are idiots and will let something like facebook or their smart phone access their e-mail address book.

Tread carefully with the psycho boss. I wish I had some good advice to fix the situation.

LOL - it is! I have also changed pronouns he/she, him/her to vary throughout the posts. Not that I think will ever visit this forum, or anyone that we work with or are friends with; and I will stop there an not explain why I say that.

The solution is to put Ritalin in the coffee, boss slows down and everybody else speeds up
I'm sorry, I just could not help myself

Seriously, you have my sympathy. I had a boss once that probably had ADHD and just could not understand that everybody didn't work as hard as he and as long hours as he. After some serious talks, we got him to understand that we where normal and he was overactive. I wouldn't confront someone with something like that without serious support from my colleagues.

That's not ADHD.

Actually that is at trait called hyper focus. I have Add, and that is a trait that allows me to work like crazy to crank out a project under a deadline. I got help for my ADD when I went from having great reviews to some issues on reviews. It was also about the same time I saw my doctor regarding stress, And insomnia. A little over a year later, I got my sleep apnea under control, stores is down, and I am on stratera for the add. You cannot make anyone get treatment, as that is personal Choice.

OK, so at least we agree that "overactive" is not a symptom of ADHD that would allow someone to work as long and as hard as described.

How about , "obsessive"?
I can understand how some people get shot "for nothing".

As an HR Director, I'm glad to read your post and see how others may perceive the role of HR from their own life experience. I'm not going to disagree with you since that is your experience, but I sure hope that is not how the employees I work with see things. I work really hard to avoid that type of perception.

SMenasco wrote:In my opinion, after having spent 30 years in the corporate world, in both non-exempt and management positions, and having worked with and for a number of spastic losers, this thing is a ticking time bomb for you should you talk about this to anyone, especially people higher than you and/or this person. Higer-ups may think you're trying to undercut your supervisor and this person, as a defensive posture, will not admit/recognize the problem and will no longer trust you. And I think it would be a mistake to broach the subject with HR. Corporate drones are not necessarily there to help you. Be assured they will definitely give this a life. Their existence depends on bringing these problems and their solution to the attention of staff management, who then go to line management. Sooner or later, the problem will be known throughout the department/company (a topic like this is popular gossip) and the outcome may very well not be in your favor. I predict you will not be seen in a favorable light, regardless with whom this is dicussed. There is safety in numbers and you appear to be alone. My suggestion, as difficult as it may be, is to keep quiet and ride it out. If the situation is as bad as you say, it's only a matter of time. Avoid confrontations. The longer this goes on, the more others will become aware. Most of these types ultimately self destruct. Good luck.

SU, heck, no!

Work is work, but you meet some very weird people there.
Some are clinging to the edge; others are prying their fingers up.

That's easy. In your exit interview with HR once you have secured other employment. Maybe not even then.
