HAve to go back onto energy drinks :o(

Post by makezmuzic » Fri Oct 19, 2012 12:44 am

Hello all. I'm a little down. I had another sleep test in August because I just can't seem to stay awake during the day. And my edema is back. Last time I went through this, edema turning my feet into footballs, my Sleep Doctor said I was in coronary failure. That time they bumped it up to 12 and it really made a difference. Sure enough my machine needs to be bumped up again, from 12 to 15. I'm not sure if that is a big difference. It's only 3 points, but it's all relative.

A couple of problems popped up. #1 12 is as high as my machine goes. #2 Medicare won't approve a machine that goes up to 15 until next October. Drag... But hey, I'm very lucky that they will eventually cover it. But meanwhile, I dread going back to energy drinks. I am trying to stay awake "healthy" though. I have a 'green drink' that works pretty well. Tastes like crap....but then so do the energy sodas & such.

I also have some of those '5 hour energy' shot bottles. They are basically vitamin B12. Can't really do coffee. I have fibromyalgia and coffee exacerbates my fibro symptoms. Anyone have some energy drink recipes that they found works for them. I have stuff to do, places to go, people to meet. I refuse to sleep my life away.

I'm also considering writing Medicare to see if they will ease up on the one year restriction on my getting a new machine - one that works. Dang, I fell asleep twice while just writing this. lol I'm in trouble!

What machine do you have that only goes to 12?

I think there's a lot worse stuff than B12 in energy drinks.

But I don't see a 12 anywhere on the earlier versions.

You don't say what kind of machine You have, but the lowest pressure on most machines is 20. If your machine cannot meet your pressure you need a prescription from the doctor to get a new one. Who is adjusting the machine for you?

If you fill out your profile as to your machine and mask and other info people will be better able to help you.
To stay awake-
Get a prescription for Provigil or Nuvigil. They are wakefulness agents and will give you your life back.

I don't think that's necessarily a good idea.

All the machines are adjustable; unless you have an antique.
If your existing machine won't adjust up to your RX'd pressure,
your doc should be able to write a letter of medical necessity enabling you to get a machine that will--right away.
