All I can say is, I missed 3 weeks of work, had the worst pain I could imagine, slept with my head propped up in the corner of my loveseat. I had child cups with sipper lids so my nose would not get bumped or wet.

Would I do this again? NO way!!!!!!!!

Now they have a new procedure out and I would ask the doctor about it.

I heard about it last night on FOX News Channel. It is called Sinoplasty.

It sounds a lot less evassive and safer than what I went through. I would consider this procedure myself. Not the other one believe me.

This site doesn't like me again.

Sharon

Time off work...4 days and yes, should have been until the splints were out just because of trying to drive and work when you cant breathe

My nose was packed.

I shook like crazy when the packing came out.

The sinoplasty is very much like the angioplasty used on the heart.

I also learned on the Fox news channel that our sinus actually do nothing for the body, and the holes to drain them are not large enough.

This doctor explained the procedure and he said time off work from this was only one day and that was for the actual procedure.

A narrow tube with a balloon on the end is inserted into the nose and then air is pumped into the tube and the balloon is inflated with very little pressure the bone is broken and the hole is enlarged to allow drainage.

Sounds horrible, but the procedure is much like the angioplasty on the arteries and veins in the heart.

I found out the procedure has been available and acceptable since December of 2005.

I will keep searching this and post the web site for it.

Deviated Septum Surgery Painful and Failed

Post by rsm2000e » Mon Apr 10, 2006 3:54 pm

I had the surgery several years ago, and I felt awful when I woke up. I was plenty cranky and worst of all, I still snored and still cannot breathe properly through the side that was deviated.

I would never go through that again, no matter WHAT the doctors said.

I use a full-face mask and the Respironics Remstar Auto with Humidifier.

I haven't had it done... but I need it done:(

The deveatied septum is interfearing with my CPAP. My original titration was done at 10 on a std CPAP. I switched over to the Auto CPAP a few weeks ago,If my nose stays clear, I have a good night and I find the AutoCPAP running on a low presure the next moring. If my nose cloggs up, I have a bad night and find the AutoCPAP running at high presure... I also find that I feel real bad, sleep apnea wise the next day if my nose cloggs.

I have two friends that have had it done. They say it was worth it, and they don't even have sleep apnea!!!!!
