Not recommended
(and I worked for an airline for a while), even on direct flights. They way luggage is treated is enough to make your head spin. We have had bags with tire mark, exploded zippers, ripped outer pockets, bags arriving days late from exotic locations we have never been too....
Remember if the bag is totally lost the maximum value you can, eventually, claim is much less the the retail value of the machine, mean while you are without therapy until you get a new one.
