Acne where straps go on my face
Acne where straps go on my face
Newbie to forum but not to cpap. I have air pillows, don't know what kind sorry, where the straps lay on my face I've been breaking out a lot lately. Anyone else have this issue or suggestions? I wash my face, I wash the strap. It's just strange that after 7 years with my cpap and pillows I'm breaking out. Thank you!
Re: Acne where straps go on my face
Possibly the strap covers might help. Mine came with two cloth comfort covers for each side of the face, I never used them, haven't felt the need so far. Also I am wondering if any the straps have Latex and possibly you developed a Latex allergy? Just a thought, I don't know what the strap material for each company is made from.

Re: Acne where straps go on my face
Really dry skin, and the rubbing from straps can help bacteria get under the skin. Put oil on the skin where the straps go. Most of the things one would use to heal skin lesions are not to be used near the eye. Maybe ask pharmacist if there is anything else you can use. Zinc Oxide might help to kill the bacteria, but it dries the skin. I doubt that the amount of Zinc in moisturizing sunblocks is enough to whack bacteria, but I am wrong about a lot of things.
If the pimple does not go away on its own, appears to be like an insect bite, get to a doctor immediately. Wait a minute let me alter that, if the pimple is near the eye, GO to a doctor NOW. What OP describes is like my first MRSA infection, which is now a very common infection. MRSA is a bacteria nearly all of us have on our skin, and many of us are immune to problems from the strain on our own skin, is the bacteria which can morph into flesh eating bacteria. If the bacteria is near soft tissue like the eye, then when we get around to seeing a GP, the GP will be introducing us to a surgeon to start excising tissue to stop the infection. Am I trying to scare you. YES.
Just because pimples are common does not mean we can safely delay treatment of potential MRSA, which is becoming a more common infection. As this is a Friday, if your Primary Care Provider can not evaluate you, then go to a doc in a box, as we call a walk in clinic which charges like a regular clinic. Else you may end up needing to be evaluated at an ER, which is really expensive. In either the case of the PCP, or the ER, I think they will both tell you that you did the right thing in coming to see them right away. The risk is that great.

Ditto on the MRSA.
Sometimes it looks like acne, sometimes a bite; doesn't look like much until it's out of control.
The important thing to note is if it is not healing as fast as normal--get thee to a doc.
