I was tempted to use a tiny needle file to remove burrs on the plastic (I saw something.)
When I looked very carefully, there was a little unidentified gunk in the holes.
I cleaned them out with a very thin interdental brush.

Well, I checked the vent holes and they are clear, removed the pillows and inspected them, checked the swivel itself and it seems tight, so once again I asked her about the whistle and she said " Oh, I just wiggle your hose a little and it quits" AARRRRGGGGHHHH! She's been complaining about this enough that I thought it required immediate action and she just brushes it off, I give up! I am glad it's not the major problem I thought it was I like my swift fx. Thank you all for your suggestions and support, it makes it possible to get through all this!

That sounds like a communication issue or that this is masquerading for something else. I had a roommate who always said "It doesn't matter" when it always did and I would get shit for not realizing that what she meant was the opposite and I was supposed to pry it out of her.Pachyderm's Nose wrote:Well, I checked the vent holes and they are clear, removed the pillows and inspected them, checked the swivel itself and it seems tight, so once again I asked her about the whistle and she said " Oh, I just wiggle your hose a little and it quits" AARRRRGGGGHHHH! Many mask have a 90 day "defective" warranty period. I am not sure of the Swift FX but I am willing to bet that it does since their competition does. You may want to call your DME (if you're within the 90 days) and see if they can exchange it. Maybe call Resmed first and ask about their warranty...present a better, more informed case to your DME. (Resmed # 1800-424-0737). They may ask you to bring it in so they can hear it but it may be worth it. I have seen new mask straight out of the package make a lot of noise (usually from the exhalation ports). I never knew what it was...it may be as the previous post said the exhalation ports not being cleaned out correctly during manufacturing.

I use the Swift FX and have noticed a strange thing with the clear plastic swivel on the thin hose. If I hold it up to the sunlight just right and rotate it, I see a Moiré pattern within the two plastic couplings. This is clearly trapped soap and moisture pressed between the two cylinders of plastic. I daily soak my hose in a bowl filled with water and liquid dishwashing soap, so I'm not too worried about bacterial contamination or anything, however if I put a few drops of alcohol on the swivel seam and rotate the swivel, the Moiré pattern goes away, or at least becomes invisible. Has anyone else noticed this weird phenomena

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
