2 Questions when water is very low:
1. Does the Remstar automatically turn off the humidifier? It has a low water 'alarm' setting, which I have never used, but the logic being the machine knows about it, so does it turn off the plate?
2. Does the Remstar automatically turn off the heated hose? I found it hard to determine what the heated hose is heating so I taped a temp probe to it. The kind with the iGrill setup that bluetooths to your iPhone. Recorded data all nite. It actually stays heating but moves up and down, seemingly attempting to maintain some delta to room temperature (on second iGrill probe ). However, last nite while I did not have the probe attached, I am very sure it went right off, but the water was almost gone, hence my question. (I will have to re-probe it when water is low to prove it to myself).

Don't have that machine, but if they have a low water alarm, they must want someone to turn it off, and probably the humidifier.

Re: Humidifier action when out of water: Remstar
Oops, just looked at the machine readout again, and the instruction book. No such thing as a low water alarm. I was misreading the humidifier LED on/off setting. (it looked like 'level' setting abbreviated on the small screen).
The book does not say anything about freeking out if the water runs out, but it does say to not have the humidifier turned on if you don't put water in the tank. Sounds like it will be OK if it drys out in the night, but don't use it dry all the time.

If you put enough water in it, it shouldn't run out in one night.

Re: Humidifier action when out of water: Remstar
It has been soooo dry here recently, I have run out of water several times. Have no clue as to what time the water ran out, I just notice it when I go to refill it the next night. Normally I have about 1/2 to 1/4 inch left everytime I go to refill but recently........ nada. I ended up turning the humidifier down a notch or two just so I would not run out and end up with dry nose and mouth.
