Question for bald guys.....

Post by nanwilson » Sat Oct 06, 2012 10:53 am

Morning guys
My son will be getting his gear on Tuesday and I have a question for you..... Do the straps leave marks on your unprotected dome or do you use a buff/papcap as a liner? He is bald...(sorry son, both sides of the family ) and since I have lots of hair, I had to ask the question as I have no clue on this one. Any other suggestions you might make would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.....
Nan

Nan: I have some balding areas and I have not seen any imprints or red marks because of the straps...

I am quite baldish on top and keep my hair rather short, what's left, I have not noticed any discoloration or visible marks, and no one has mentioned marks on top of the old chrome dome. In the morning I can feel where the straps have put pressure on the tissue but it "fluffs" up in a couple of hours. I do not want a Trump comb over at all.

I have not noticed any marks on my head in the morning, but I have the advantage of only having to look at the front and sides, so I figure that what is behind me is not important.

Seriously, I am using a nasal mask that does not require very much pressure from the straps to keep it in place. In fact, my RT told me that tightening the straps too much will cause leaks ( and I found out that she is right). The light pressure required by this mask doesn't leave a noticeable mark that lasts more than a few minutes.

Should any strap marks materialize I bet that Karen at PadaCheek probably has some sort of strap cover that would work on the offending strap.

nanwilson,
As you can see from my profile pic, I'm bald and keep my hair short on the sides. I use a FFM, but have not strap marks. The only mark I have encountered in my first week of xPAP therapy has been across the bridge of my nose. I hope this helps!

Thanks all
We shall see what happens tomorrow when he gets his gear and tries it out. Should he need it, I'm pretty sure he has a motorcycle dew rag, barring that I can make strap covers for him.
Cheers

I briefly -period of time- a couple months back had shaved my head. Other than the straps slipping a little and having to re-adjust things, I don't recall any bad marks on my actual head. Now with my face with the SleepWeaver Elan OR chinstrap(s)... That's a whole different story/thread.
